How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Mig Welder

    Stockport | Permanent | £19.97 per hour + Excellent Benefits

    Excellent opportunity for an experienced MIG Welder with Aluminium experience to join a leading defence manufacturer in Stockport, working on the assembly of complex military engineering systems.

    This is a hands-on welding position within a modern manufacturing environment, offering great career prospects and working conditions, where you will be responsible for producing high-quality welded assemblies in line with engineering drawings, welding specifications and required quality standards.

    Pay & Benefits

    * £19.97 per hour + overtime

    * Monday to Thursday: (Apply online only). Friday: (Apply online only)

    * Attractive pension – 4% employee contribution and 7% employer contribution

    * Half-day Friday

    * 25 days holiday plus bank holidays

    * Additional long-service holiday

    * Cycle-to-work scheme

    As a Welder, you will:

    *

    MIG weld aluminium components and assemblies to required standards

    *

    Work from engineering drawings, work instructions and welding specifications

    *

    Prepare, weld, dress and finish components

    *

    Inspect completed welds for quality and dimensional accuracy

    *

    Identify and correct welding defects

    *

    Use hand and powered tools safely

    *

    Complete relevant production and quality documentation

    *

    Work safely and efficiently to production schedules

    Candidate Requirements:

    *

    Aluminium MIG welding experience within manufacturing or fabrication

    *

    Ability to read and work from engineering drawings

    *

    Good understanding of welding processes and quality standards

    *

    Ability to identify and correct welding defects

    *

    Relevant welding qualifications / certifications advantageous

    *

    Heavy engineering or defence experience beneficial
