How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    There is no sponsorship for this role!

    Production

    * Always assist the Production Managers, ensuring that production is running smoothly and efficiently.

    * Ensure the correct number of operatives are planned on lines in accordance with job targets set by the Production Managers.

    * Coach, mentor, organise & take charge of a team of production line leaders

    * Ensure line leaders have completed line start up sheets in accordance to procedure. Report all issues to the Production Managers.

    * Communicate to all line leaders job targets, throughputs, waste, giveaway and investigate reasons for not achieving targets.

    * Ensure line leaders are using the correct packing materials such as film, original and new boxes.

    * Ensure the original supplier boxes are utilised correctly and advise product runners to not dispose of any original box unless told otherwise.

    * Advise and support line leaders and bring any issues to their attention, this may involve intervention to resolve the problem.

    * Ensure trainee line leaders are receiving the correct training and that all training is signed off in accordance to procedure

    * Liaise with the production management and feedback line leaders performance including trainees

    * Work hand in hand with the Quality team and be aware of potential quality or packaging issues to minimise and reduce internal rejections. Ensure all problems that arise is communicated to the production manager.

    * Bring all machine faults to the attention of the engineering team immediately.

    * Ensure packing materials are being scanned into a job using Prophet scan system.

    * Oversee and carry out validation checks to ensure line leaders and machine operators are completing labels checks and information printed on product labels / film according to procedure.

    * Ensure best utilisation of raw material is achieved during packing raw material & record / monitoring waste.

    * Ensure all new operatives to the business has an all-round understanding of the tasks they are required to carry out.

    * Deputise for a Production Manager in the event of sickness or holidays taken.

    * Complete all production administration & complete worksheet data correctly.

    * Communicate line processing targets to the team.

    * Demonstrate how to pack products on the production line to encourage and motivate production operatives to meet their potential.

    * Completion of customer’s orders to out loading times.

    * Follow the company’s label check procedure.

    * Follow the company’s packaging procedure.

    * To take care of packaging & equipment used, and ensure it is stored in the correct place according to procedure.

    * Carry out training requirements for production operatives using the company’s procedures.

    * Ensure all staff are wearing correct PPE and PPE is worn correctly.

    * Any other duties deemed necessary to the needs of the business.

    * Committed to maintain a Health and Safety orientated environment for self and others.

    * Adhere to Karstens clean as you go policy ensuring that the working area is always kept clean, tidy and is always at audit (internal/external) ready standards.

    Administration / Printroom

    Access prophet data base to create packing job, print labels & job instruction.

    On completion of a job input data into prophet ensuring the correct information is captured – packing ingredient, labour time, raw material, packaging, labels etc.

    On competition of entering data into prophet, all information must be sense checked against production job sheet before closing off jobs.

    When required cover print room operative duties.
