How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Help Shape the UK’s Energy Future

Section Engineer Opportunity with the Civil Works Alliance (CWA), Supporting Sizewell C

As part of the CWA (Civil Works Alliance), you will support the building of Sizewell C. Sizewell C will be a 3.2-gigawatt power station generating low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes and will play a key role in our energy future, supplying reliable, clean electricity for at least 60 years. This role will be within the Main Civil Works Section.

    What will you do?

The CWA is recruiting directly for a Section Engineer – Metal to support the safe, efficient and high-quality delivery of stainless-steel welding and fabrication works.

Working within a supplier’s manufacturing facility or on CWA self-delivered site works, the successful candidate will provide engineering and production support across liner panels, modules and assemblies. They will organise the fabrication area, coordinate day-to-day activities and lead the Site Engineers assigned to the section.

This is a delivery-focused role requiring close collaboration with Construction, Quality, Planning, Procurement and supply-chain partners. The Section Engineer will help drive product compliance, improve welding and production efficiency, and ensure the section achieves its programme objectives.

Leading weekly coordination meetings with suppliers and subcontractors, reviewing upcoming activities and driving agreed actions.

Preparing the technical documentation required to deliver the works.

Raising requisitions for the plant, equipment and materials needed by the section.

Supporting production meetings, project reviews, risk reviews and pre-production readiness activities.

Providing engineering coverage during significant operations, including heavy lifts.

Coordinating internal engineering, schedule and action-review meetings.

Demonstrating a strong commitment to Nuclear Safety Culture and ensuring compliance throughout the supply chain.

Ensuring works are completed in accordance with approved Inspection and Test Plans.

Making sure approved risk assessments, method statements and lift plans are in place and communicated to the workforce.

Conducting regular safety, quality, cost and delivery-performance audits.

Reviewing contractor construction plans with the Planning team and participating in daily and weekly planning meetings.

Delivering the section safely, on programme and within its agreed budget.

    What are we looking for?

The successful candidate will be accountable for the engineering coordination and production performance of their section. They will provide visible leadership across the work area while ensuring that safety, quality, technical and programme requirements are consistently met.

    They should bring:

Practical experience of metalwork, welding and prefabrication within a manufacturing or construction-site environment.

Previous experience in heavy civil engineering, infrastructure or industrial construction.

A strong mechanical engineering background, supported by broad, multidisciplinary technical knowledge.

An understanding of relevant legislative requirements and Control of Work processes.

The ability to interpret detailed engineering drawings, risk assessments, method statements and Inspection and Test Plans.

Experience managing third-party, multidisciplinary teams on behalf of a client or principal delivery organisation.

Strong planning, organisation and communication skills.

The confidence to coordinate suppliers, challenge performance and resolve technical or production issues.

The ability to meet the required security-vetting criteria, which ordinarily includes UK residency for at least three of the previous five years.

An ONC or HNC in engineering would be advantageous. Experience within nuclear, petrochemical or oil and gas construction would also be beneficial, particularly knowledge of stainless-steel fabrication to ETC-C or BTS 3.01 standards on HPC or another EPR programme

    What we will offer you?

The CWA is a single delivery organisation made of up of the client (Sizewell C) and three parent companies - Balfour Beatty, Bouygues and Laing O'Rourke - which offer industry leading packages including market leading salaries, generous annual leave entitlements, pension scheme and other flexible benefits.
