How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Mechanical Engineer – Ayrshire – Competitive Salary

Does the idea of taking ownership of engineering improvements within a busy manufacturing environment and playing a key role in maximising equipment reliability sound like your next career move?

Our client is looking for a motivated Mechanical Engineer to join their Engineering team on a permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity to become the subject matter expert for a dedicated production area, driving maintenance excellence, continuous improvement, and asset reliability within a modern manufacturing facility. This is a Monday to Friday role.

Are you who we're looking for?

    • Completed a mechanical apprenticeship with an HNC in Mechanical Engineering

    • Strong background in mechanical maintenance within a manufacturing or production environment

    • Experience developing and managing planned preventative maintenance (PPM) programmes

    • Excellent fault-finding, root cause analysis and troubleshooting skills

    • Ability to prioritise workloads and manage multiple tasks effectively

    • Strong communication and teamwork skills with a proactive approach

    • Focus on quality, safety and continuous improvement

    • Multi-skilled engineering experience would be advantageous

    • Good IT skills and experience maintaining engineering documentation

Day-to-day, you'll take ownership of the mechanical maintenance strategy within your assigned production department, ensuring equipment is maintained to the highest standards of reliability and performance. You'll develop and manage PPM schedules, carry out preventative maintenance, resolve mechanical defects, and work closely with Production teams to minimise downtime and improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).

You'll also support safety initiatives, maintain accurate maintenance records, manage critical spare parts, contribute to capital projects and continuous improvement activities, and help develop maintenance procedures and standard operating practices to improve long-term asset performance.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to take ownership of a key production area while developing your career within a technically advanced manufacturing environment, with genuine opportunities to influence plant performance and drive engineering improvements.
