How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    We’re looking for an experienced Senior Geo-Environmental Engineer to join a growing and ambitious team in Birmingham.

    This is a fantastic opportunity for a Geo-Environmental Engineer with experience in contaminated land, ground investigations and environmental assessment who is looking for greater responsibility, interesting projects and genuine career progression.

    What will you be doing?

    You’ll work across a varied portfolio of projects, providing practical and technical support from initial investigation through to reporting and remediation.

    Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

    *

    Managing and delivering geo-environmental and ground investigations

    *

    Undertaking Phase 1 and Phase 2 contaminated land assessments

    *

    Soil and groundwater sampling and interpretation

    *

    Assessing contamination and environmental risks

    *

    Preparing high-quality factual and interpretive reports

    *

    Providing remediation and risk assessment advice

    *

    Liaising with clients, contractors and other consultants

    *

    Supporting project management and commercial delivery

    *

    Mentoring and supporting junior engineers

    *

    Ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high technical standard

    What are we looking for?

    We’re keen to hear from candidates with:

    *

    Previous experience in geo-environmental engineering or contaminated land

    *

    A degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or a related subject

    *

    Experience of ground investigations and contaminated land assessment

    *

    Strong technical report-writing skills

    *

    Good communication and project management abilities

    *

    A proactive approach and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team

    *

    A full UK driving licence is desirable
