How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Commercial & Public-Sector Contracts | Testing & Remedials | Varied Maintenance Work | Funded Training
    An established and well-respected Electrical & Security contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Electrical Testing Engineer to join its engineering team, working predominantly across East London and Greater London.
    This is a varied mobile role for a qualified electrician who enjoys testing and inspection alongside fault finding, maintenance, remedial works and smaller installations. You will work across established, long-term client contracts within commercial buildings, public-sector premises and other operational environments.
    You will have the independence to organise and carry out your work professionally, with experienced colleagues available for support. The role offers continuity of work, company-funded technical training and the opportunity to use a broad range of electrical skills.
    The package includes a £43,000–£48,000 basic salary, company vehicle, healthcare and enhanced overtime rates, providing a clear foundation with opportunities to increase earnings through additional work.
    The Opportunity
    As Electrical Testing Engineer, you will carry out inspection, testing and associated electrical works across a portfolio of planned and reactive contracts.
    Your responsibilities will include:
    * Carrying out EICRs, electrical inspection and testing
    * Completing remedial works identified through inspections and test results
    * Delivering planned preventative maintenance and diagnosing electrical faults
    * Undertaking smaller installations, repairs and alterations
    * Testing, maintaining and repairing emergency lighting systems
    * Completing accurate certification, reports, job sheets and supporting records
    You will deal professionally with clients and building users, explain findings clearly and maintain high standards of workmanship.
    The position includes participation in a shared call-out rota and occasional evening or weekend work.
    About You
    We are looking for an experienced, qualified electrician who can carry out testing and inspection independently and has at least five years’ relevant installation, maintenance or testing experience.
    You should have:
    * NVQ Level 3 Electrical qualification through an apprenticeship or equivalent route
    * 18th Edition qualification covering the applicable amendments
    * City & Guilds 2391 Inspection & Testing qualification or recognised equivalent
    * Current ECS card
    * Strong practical experience of EICRs, fault finding, remedial works and electrical certification
    * Full UK driving licence
    Experience within commercial buildings, planned maintenance contracts or sensitive operational environments would be particularly useful.
    You should be comfortable managing your workload, maintaining accurate records and working independently while remaining part of a wider engineering team.
    What’s on Offer?
    * £43,000–£48,000 basic salary
    * Company vehicle and Tools
    * Enhanced overtime available at 1.5x for night and Saturday work, and 2x on Sundays
    * 24 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays
    * JIB healthcare
    * Company pension
    * Company phone, laptop and electrical tester
    * Company-funded training and ongoing professional development
    Standard hours are 8:00am–5:00pm Monday to Friday, with a one-hour unpaid lunch break.
    You will join an established contractor offering long-term client relationships, varied electrical work and support to maintain and develop your technical skills.
