How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    £14-£16 per hour DOE, Monday-Friday, Half Day Friday, Overtime at 150%, Full Training, Clear Progression, Employee Incentives and Celebrations

    About the Mechanical Fitter Role
    We're looking for an experienced or motivated HGV Assembler to join a busy, modern workshop in Derby. You'll be working on brand-new vehicle conversions, carrying out a range of mechanical, fabrication and electrical assembly work.

    This is a hands-on role suited to someone with experience in a workshop, engineering, vehicle or manufacturing environment. Full training will be provided, along with all tools and equipment required for the role.

    The Mechanical Fitter Role
    As a Mechanical Fitter, you'll be responsible for assembling and fitting components as part of the vehicle conversion process. You'll work from instructions and specifications to ensure work is completed accurately and to a high standard.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    Fitting and installing HGV components
    Chassis assembly and modification
    Welding and fabrication
    Working accurately from technical instructions
    Using hand and power tools
    Maintaining high standards of quality and safety
    What We're Looking For
    We're open to Mechanical Fitter applicants from a range of practical and trade backgrounds, including:

    Mechanical fitting
    Plant or machinery assembly
    Welding and fabrication
    Vehicle mechanics
    Semi-skilled or skilled engineering
    General workshop or manufacturing environments

    Confidence using hand and power tools
    Good practical and mechanical ability

    £14-£16 per hour, depending on experience
