How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Senior Town Planner - Manchester

    Salary: £45,000 - £55,000

    An established and growing planning consultancy is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Town Planner to join its Manchester-based team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated planner to work across a varied portfolio of projects while developing their career within a supportive and collaborative consultancy.

    The Role

    As a Senior Town Planner, you will be involved in a diverse range of planning projects, working closely with clients, consultants, local authorities and other stakeholders. You will have the opportunity to take ownership of projects and play an important role in delivering high-quality planning advice.

    Key Responsibilities

    Managing planning applications and appeals from inception through to completion.
    Providing professional planning advice to clients and project teams.
    Preparing and reviewing planning statements, reports and supporting documentation.
    Liaising with local planning authorities, consultants and other stakeholders.
    Undertaking planning research and policy assessments.
    Managing multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
    Supporting and mentoring junior members of the planning team.
    Assisting with business development and maintaining strong client relationships.Requirements

    Degree in Town Planning, Planning, or a related discipline.
    Chartered status or working towards MRTPI is desirable.
    Previous experience within a planning consultancy or similar environment.
    Strong knowledge of the UK planning system and relevant planning policy.
    Experience managing planning applications and providing client-facing advice.
    Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    Strong organisational and project management abilities.
    A proactive approach with the ability to work independently and as part of a wider team.Benefits
