How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job Title: Asbestos Surveyor
    Location: Manchester

    Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a well-established UKAS-accredited environmental consultancy in their search for an experienced Asbestos Surveyor to join their team in Manchester.

    This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced surveyor to join a highly respected organisation with a strong reputation for technical excellence, quality, and compliance. You'll work across a varied portfolio of commercial, industrial, healthcare, education, infrastructure, and public sector projects throughout Manchester and the wider North West.

    The position offers a varied workload, strong technical support, and excellent opportunities for long-term professional development and progression.

    The Role

    As an Asbestos Surveyor, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality asbestos surveying services across a diverse portfolio of client sites.

    Working independently while benefiting from the support of an established technical and operational team, you'll ensure surveys are completed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with HSG264, current asbestos legislation, and company procedures.

    Key Responsibilities

    Carrying out Management and Refurbishment & Demolition (R&D) asbestos surveys in accordance with HSG264

    Conducting bulk asbestos sampling across a range of property and site types

    Producing accurate, detailed, and compliant asbestos survey reports

    Working across commercial, industrial, healthcare, education, infrastructure, and public sector environments

    Managing your own diary and workload effectively

    Liaising professionally with clients, contractors, and site representatives

    Maintaining accurate electronic records and survey documentation

    Ensuring all work complies with current asbestos legislation, HSE guidance, and internal quality procedures

    What We're Looking For

    BOHS P402 qualification (essential)

    Previous experience working as an Asbestos Surveyor

    Strong understanding of HSG264 and current asbestos legislation

    Experience working within a UKAS-accredited environment is desirable

    Full UK driving licence

    Strong communication and report-writing skills

    Ability to manage a field-based workload independently

    Professional, organised, and reliable approach to work
