The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you’ll work closely with teachers and other professionals to provide individualised support for pupils with a range of additional needs. Your duties may include:
Providing 1:1 and small-group support
Supporting pupils with Autism, communication needs and learning disabilities
Supporting pupils with SLD, PMLD and complex needs where required
Following individual support plans and EHCP outcomes
Using visual, sensory and structured approaches to learning
Supporting communication, engagement and interaction
Encouraging independence and the development of life skills
Supporting pupils’ social and emotional development
Promoting positive behaviour and emotional regulation
Helping pupils access learning at an appropriate level
Working alongside teachers, therapists and other professionals
Following safeguarding procedures at all times
Skills and Experience
At least 6 months’ experience supporting children or young people with SEND
Previous experience within a school, specialist school or SEND education setting
Experience supporting Autism, learning disabilities and/or complex needs is highly desirable
Confidence providing 1:1 and small-group support
Understanding of different communication and learning needs
Patient, resilient and nurturing approach
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
Teaching Assistant or SEND-related qualification is desirable
Ability to provide references covering your most recent 24 months
Enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service or willingness to have one processed

Daily rate: £95.00 – £109.25
