How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Electrical Engineer / Controls Engineer / PLC Engineer

    £51,125 + Bonus (up to 4%) + Training (Mitsubishi PLC) + Long-Term Development + Days Based

    Shaftesbury, Dorset (Commutable from: Gillingham, Blandford Forum, Yeovil, Sherborne, Warminster, Salisbury, Sturminster Newton, Dorchester)

    Are you an Electrical Engineer / Automation Engineer looking to develop further into PLCs, controls and automation, working on a modern manufacturing site where you'll be trusted to drive improvements and get involved in projects? Do you want a secure, permanent position with a well-established UK manufacturer that invests in training and looks after its people?

    On offer is a long-term opportunity to join a specialist production business where you'll receive Mitsubishi PLC training, build your controls capability and take ownership of improvement and upgrade work as the site continues to develop.

    This company is a long-established food manufacturer supplying major UK retailers, known for quality and continuous investment. Due to ongoing development and a need to strengthen their engineering capability, they are now looking to add an engineer with an electrical foundation and an interest in controls to the team.

    In this role you will support site electrical/controls systems including PLCs, HMIs, SCADA and drives, assist with complex fault-finding, and contribute to design and installation work including P&IDs, panel design and commissioning.

    This role would suit an Electrical Engineer who has some controls exposure or a genuine interest in moving deeper into controls/automation, looking for training, responsibility and long-term development.

    The Role:

    Support and improve site electrical / controls systems (PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, drives)
    Fault-finding on plant issues and supporting the wider engineering team
    Continuous improvement and capital project support (design, installation, commissioning)
    Monday to Friday, 08:00 - 16:30

    The Person:

    Electrical Engineer with some PLC/controls exposure, or a strong interest in developing into controls & automation
    Comfortable fault-finding and supporting production plant / manufacturing equipment
