How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time

    The Opportunity

JL Renewable Solutions is working with an established and growing electrical infrastructure contractor to recruit an experienced HV Project Manager for its South Wales operations.

The business delivers high-voltage electrical infrastructure projects across the UK, including HV substations, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), grid connections, underground cabling and associated mechanical and electrical works.

With a strong pipeline of secured projects and further opportunities in development, this is an excellent opportunity for an electrically biased Project Manager to take ownership of technically challenging projects and play an important role in their successful delivery.

You'll be responsible for managing projects from initial planning and mobilisation through construction, commissioning and completion, ensuring they are delivered safely, on programme and within budget.

    Key Responsibilities

    *

Manage the end-to-end delivery of HV electrical infrastructure projects, including substations, BESS, grid connections and underground cabling.

    *

Take responsibility for project programmes, budgets, resources, commercial performance and overall delivery.

    *

Coordinate electrical engineers, site teams, subcontractors, suppliers and specialist contractors.

    *

Develop and manage project programmes using Primavera P6 or similar planning software.

    *

Monitor project progress, identify potential delays and implement recovery plans where required.

    *

Oversee the delivery of electrical and M&E works, including HV switchgear, transformers, substations and associated infrastructure.

    *

Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, DNOs, ICPs and other project stakeholders.

    *

Manage project risks, variations, commercial reporting and contractual requirements.

    *

Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality standards.

    *

Maintain accurate project documentation, progress reports and programme updates.

    *

Work closely with internal commercial, engineering and operational teams to ensure successful project outcomes.

    About You

We're keen to speak with experienced Project Managers who have a strong electrical engineering background and experience delivering HV infrastructure projects.

    Essential experience:

    *

Proven experience as a Project Manager within electrical infrastructure, HV substations, power distribution or grid connections.

    *

Strong electrical understanding, ideally across 33kV-132kV infrastructure.

    *

Experience delivering projects involving substations, underground cabling, BESS or associated electrical infrastructure.

    *

Background working with an ICP, DNO, electrical contractor, EPC contractor or utilities business.

    *

Experience managing subcontractors, project teams and multiple stakeholders.

    *

Strong commercial awareness, including project budgets, cost control, programme management and risk.

    *

Experience using Primavera P6 or similar project planning software.

    *

Excellent communication, leadership and problem-solving skills.

    *

Ability to take ownership of projects and manage competing priorities.

    Desirable experience:

    *

Experience delivering Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) projects.

    *

Previous involvement in 132kV substation or grid connection projects.

    *

Knowledge of HV switchgear, transformers, protection systems and commissioning activities.

    *

Experience managing electrical, mechanical and civil engineering interfaces.

    *

Relevant qualification in Electrical Engineering, Project Management or a related discipline.

    *

PRINCE2, APM or equivalent Project Management qualification.

    *

HV Authorised Person experience or an understanding of HV operational requirements.

    What's on Offer?

Basic salary up to £75,000, depending on experience.

    Car allowance.

    Bonus opportunity.

    Healthcare benefits.

Opportunity to deliver technically challenging HV infrastructure and renewable energy projects.

Strong pipeline of work across substations, grid connections and BESS.

Long-term career development and progression opportunities.

Supportive working environment within an established electrical infrastructure business.
