How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Plater / Fabricator – Leven, Fife

    Location: Leven, Fife / Levenmouth area

    Contract: 10+ months

    Opportunity: Temporary to permanent, subject to performance and client requirements

    Payment: PAYE

    Gross weekly earnings on days: £1,682.33 local / £1,952.33 travelling

    Gross weekly earnings on nights: £1,965.45 local / £2,235.45 travelling

    Lodging allowance: £45 per day for eligible travelling workers

    Weekly figures are based on 60 hours and are gross before PAYE deductions.

    We are recruiting experienced Platers / Steelworkers / Fabricators for a major structural fabrication requirement in the Levenmouth area of Fife.

    The contract is expected to run for 10+ months, with work involving the fabrication and assembly of substantial structural steel components within a busy industrial environment.

    Day and night shift opportunities are available. The weekly earnings below are based on 60 hours, with a daily lodging allowance available to eligible travelling workers.

    For suitable candidates, there is also an opportunity to move from temporary to permanent employment, subject to performance and the client's requirements.

    This could be a strong opportunity for experienced Platers and Fabricators looking for a longer contract and the possibility of securing a permanent role. We would like to hear from local candidates and those willing to travel.

    The Work

    The role will involve heavy structural fabrication and assembly within a large industrial facility, including:

    * Fabrication and assembly of structural steel

    * Reading and working from engineering drawings and specifications

    * Marking out, cutting and forming steel

    * Fabrication of brackets, supports and structural components

    * Fitting and aligning components ready for welding

    * Checking dimensions and the quality of completed assemblies

    * Tack welding, grinding and preparation work where required

    * Working alongside Welders and other fabrication trades

    * Meeting quality, safety and production targets

    Previous marine or shipbuilding experience would be beneficial, although candidates from strong heavy engineering and structural fabrication backgrounds will also be considered.

    Example Weekly Earnings

    60-hour week on days

    * Local worker gross earnings: £1,682.33

    * Eligible traveller lodging allowance: 6 days × £45 = £270.00

    * Travelling worker total gross earnings: £1,952.33

    60-hour week on nights

    * Local worker gross earnings: £1,965.45

    * Eligible traveller lodging allowance: 6 days × £45 = £270.00

    * Travelling worker total gross earnings: £2,235.45

    Travelling totals include the taxable lodging allowance for six days worked, subject to eligibility. All figures are gross before PAYE deductions and depend on the hours and shifts available.

    Requirements

    * NVQ Level 3 in a relevant trade or time-served experience

    * Strong Plater / Fabricator / Steelworker experience

    * Structural steel fabrication experience

    * Ability to read and work from engineering drawings

    * Ability to work to specifications and check dimensions accurately

    * Heavy engineering, marine or shipbuilding experience preferred

    * Good safety awareness and a reliable approach to work

    * Able to work independently and as part of a team
