How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Senior Finance Business Partner
    Location: Runcorn (Hybrid)
    Salary: Competitive + Benefits

    Reporting To: CFO

This is an exceptional opportunity to join a growing, private equity-backed organisation during an exciting phase of transformation and growth. Operating across multiple service lines throughout the UK, our client has ambitious plans for continued expansion and is investing heavily in both its people and infrastructure to support long-term success.

As part of that growth journey, they are seeking a commercially astute Senior Finance Business Partner who can provide strategic financial insight, influence decision-making at a senior level, and help drive business performance across the organisation.

    The Opportunity

This is far more than a traditional finance role.

Working closely with senior operational leaders, the finance leadership team, and executive stakeholders, you will act as a trusted adviser to the business, helping to shape strategy through insightful analysis, robust financial planning, and commercial challenge.

You will play a pivotal role in evaluating performance, identifying opportunities, improving processes, and ensuring decision-makers have the financial information and insight required to achieve business objectives.

The successful candidate will be highly visible across the organisation and will have genuine influence over key commercial and operational decisions.

    Key Responsibilities

    Strategic Business Partnering
Serve as a trusted finance partner to senior operational and commercial stakeholders.
Provide financial insight, support and constructive challenge to improve business performance.
Partner with leaders across multiple functions to support strategic decision-making and operational planning.
Translate complex financial information into clear, actionable recommendations for non-finance stakeholders.
Build trusted relationships that position finance as a key contributor to business success.
    Planning, Forecasting & Commercial Analysis
Lead budgeting, forecasting and long-range planning activities.
Develop and maintain robust financial models to support strategic decision-making.
Deliver meaningful variance analysis and performance commentary.
Support investment appraisals, business cases and commercial initiatives.
Identify risks and opportunities, providing recommendations to improve profitability and operational effectiveness.
Drive continuous improvement in financial planning processes and reporting methodologies.
    Performance Reporting & Insight
Develop and enhance management reporting and KPI frameworks.
Create meaningful, data-driven analysis that supports senior leadership decision-making.
Evaluate operational and financial performance, highlighting trends and opportunities.
Present financial information confidently to senior stakeholders and leadership teams.
Ensure reporting delivers genuine commercial value rather than simply historical analysis.
    Transformation & Continuous Improvement
Identify opportunities to improve systems, processes and controls.
Drive finance transformation initiatives focused on automation and efficiency.
Lead cross-functional projects to improve data quality and reporting accuracy.
Support the development of scalable reporting capabilities across the wider business.
Champion a culture of continuous improvement and commercial accountability.
    Stakeholder Management & Leadership
Collaborate closely with the Head of Commercial Finance, CFO and wider leadership team.
Influence decision-making across operational and commercial functions.
Support and mentor junior members of the finance team where appropriate.
Participate in strategic projects and business improvement initiatives.
Act as a key finance representative within cross-functional business discussions.
    About You

The successful candidate will be a qualified finance professional with a naturally commercial mindset and a genuine passion for partnering with the wider business.

    Essential Requirements

    ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified.
Proven experience within Finance Business Partnering, Commercial Finance or FP&A roles.
Strong experience of budgeting, forecasting and financial planning.
Ability to influence and challenge senior stakeholders effectively.
Advanced Excel skills and strong financial modelling capability.
    Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
    Strong communication and presentation skills.
Ability to simplify complex financial information for non-finance audiences.
Experience operating within a fast-paced and evolving business environment.
Self-motivated, proactive and comfortable working autonomously.
    Desirable Experience

Previous Big 4 or Top 10 accountancy practice background.
Experience within a private equity-backed or high-growth environment.
Exposure to senior leadership and board-level reporting.
Experience with Power BI, SQL, data warehousing or business intelligence tools.
Experience with NetSuite or similar ERP systems.
Involvement in transformation projects, acquisitions or strategic business initiatives.
    What's on Offer

    Competitive Salary + Benefits
    Hybrid working arrangement.
Significant exposure to senior leadership and strategic decision-making.
Opportunity to influence business performance within a high-growth environment.
Exposure to business transformation and change initiatives.
Ongoing professional development and career progression opportunities.
A highly visible role where your contribution will directly impact the success of the wider business.
