How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Shape the Physical Security Systems of HS2

Are you an experienced Physical Security professional with strong technical knowledge and proven experience delivering security projects?

Do you understand how systems such as access control, CCTV and intruder detection are designed, integrated and delivered within complex buildings or infrastructure?

High Speed Two Ltd is looking for a Senior Security Systems Engineer to provide technical leadership and assurance for physical and electronic security systems across the HS2 programme.

This is a project delivery and engineering role, not an installation position. You will work across major infrastructure packages, helping ensure security systems are properly designed, integrated and delivered while managing the technical risks, interfaces and changes that come with a complex programme.

You will work closely with project teams, contractors, designers, security specialists and operational stakeholders to ensure the systems ultimately provide the required security capability.

    The Opportunity

The HS2 security portfolio includes a wide range of physical and electronic security systems, including:

    * Access Control Systems

    * CCTV and Video Management Systems

    * Intruder Detection Systems

    * Physical Security Information Management

    * Integrated security and communications infrastructure

You will work across multiple projects and delivery organisations, reviewing contractor designs and technical submissions, resolving technical issues and ensuring security systems integrate effectively with wider infrastructure and communications networks.

A major part of the role is project controls. You will need to understand how technical risks are identified and managed, how interfaces are controlled and how changes are assessed and implemented throughout the project lifecycle.

You will also help ensure that contractors and delivery teams maintain the required technical standards and provide appropriate evidence that systems have been designed and delivered correctly.

    What You Will Do

    * Provide technical assurance and engineering support for physical and electronic security systems.

    * Review contractor designs, technical submissions and delivery proposals.

    * Manage security system interfaces with buildings, communications networks and wider railway infrastructure.

    * Identify and manage project risks, maintaining risk registers and developing appropriate mitigation strategies.

    * Manage technical interfaces and ensure agreed Interface Control Documents are maintained and understood.

    * Support technical change management, assessing the impact of proposed changes on cost, programme, technical performance and security requirements.

    * Provide technical guidance during design, construction, testing and commissioning.

    * Challenge proposals where they do not meet the required technical or operational outcome.

    * Work with suppliers, contractors and HS2 Subject Matter Experts to resolve technical and integration issues.

    * Support audits, assurance reviews and construction stage inspections.

    * Provide clear technical advice and reporting to project and engineering stakeholders.

    About You

We are looking for a technically capable Physical Security professional who has real project delivery experience.

You do not need to come from Critical National Infrastructure. Your experience could have been gained delivering physical security systems on major shopping centres, hospitals, stadia, commercial developments, transport facilities, large mixed use developments or other complex buildings and infrastructure.

What matters is that you understand the technology well enough to review and challenge the technical solution, understand how systems integrate and have experience managing the project controls required to deliver successfully.

You will be comfortable working with contractors, designers, suppliers and internal stakeholders and be confident taking ownership of technical issues through to resolution.

    Essential Experience

    * Experience delivering physical and electronic security systems on major projects.

    * Strong technical understanding of systems such as access control, CCTV, intruder detection and associated security infrastructure.

    * Experience reviewing designs, technical submissions and contractor deliverables.

    * Proven experience of project delivery within a complex multidisciplinary environment.

    * Experience managing project risks, including risk registers and mitigation actions.

    * Experience managing technical interfaces and coordinating information between different systems and disciplines.

    * Experience of technical change management and understanding the impact of change on cost, programme and delivery.

    * Ability to understand system integration and IP based security infrastructure.

    * Knowledge of relevant British Standards and security industry requirements.

    Desirable Experience

    * Critical National Infrastructure - Rail, aviation, defence, nuclear, utilities or other regulated infrastructure.

    * Major shopping centres, hospitals, stadia or other complex public and commercial developments.

    * Experience with VMS, PSIM or integrated security platforms.

    * Experience working within a Design and Build environment.

    * Experience of testing, commissioning and handover of security systems.

    Why Join HS2?

This is an opportunity to take your physical security experience into one of the UK's most significant infrastructure programmes and work at a scale that few security projects can match.

You will gain exposure to multiple security technologies, complex system interfaces and major infrastructure delivery, while working alongside experienced engineering, security and project professionals.

The role offers the opportunity to broaden your experience beyond a single building or project and develop your career within a long term client organisation.

You will also be working directly for High Speed Two Ltd, providing genuine client side experience across the design, delivery, integration and commissioning of the future high speed railway.

For an experienced physical security professional who combines strong technical knowledge with genuine project delivery experience, this is an opportunity to build a long term career within one of the UK's largest infrastructure programmes
