How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Trident Recruitment is recruiting for an experienced 5-Axis CNC Miller / Programmer to join a high-level precision engineering business in Oxford.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong CNC engineer who wants more than just another machining role. The company is looking for someone who can bring genuine 5-axis programming expertise to the team, with the opportunity to develop into a Senior / Leadership position as the business continues to grow.

    The Role

You will be responsible for programming, setting and supporting complex multi-axis machining work, taking components from drawing through to finished part.

    Key responsibilities will include:

    *

Programming complex 5-axis CNC milling machines

    *

    Producing 5-axis simultaneous machining programs

    *

    Offline programming using CAD/CAM software

    *

Programming, setting and proving out new components

    *

Working from complex engineering drawings and specifications

    *

Tooling selection, speeds, feeds and machining strategy

    *

Improving existing programs and reducing cycle times

    *

    Troubleshooting machining and programming issues

    *

Supporting less experienced engineers within the machine shop

    *

Helping drive machining standards and continuous improvement

    *

Taking on increasing technical and leadership responsibility

    What We're Looking For

5-axis machining experience is essential for this position.

    You should have:

    *

    Strong CNC milling programming experience

    Experience with 5-axis simultaneous machining

    *

    Strong CAD/CAM programming knowledge

    *

Experience taking complex components from drawing to finished part

    *

Excellent understanding of tooling, workholding and machining strategies

    *

Ability to work to tight tolerances

    *

    A strong precision engineering background

Previous supervisory or management experience is not essential. This could suit an excellent CNC Programmer who is currently hands-on but feels ready to progress into a Senior Engineer, Lead Engineer or future management position.

    Package

    *

Salary up to £75,000 depending on experience

    *

    Day shift

    *

Opportunity to move into a senior leadership position

This is a standout opportunity for an ambitious 5-Axis CNC Programmer who wants to remain technically involved while taking the next step towards leading and developing an engineering team.
