GPW Recruitment are working with an established, specialist manufacturer in Altrincham to recruit a Logistics Operative in their stores on a permanent basis.
This is a standalone role reporting directly to the Operations Manager

Key Responsibilities as the Logistics Operative:
* Ensuring compliance with the company’s Health & Safety requirements and making sure the warehouse is a safe environment for all employees and visitors
* Use of lifting equipment, including overhead crane and forklift truck in line with training and relevant regulations, with strict awareness of other personnel within the immediate area.
* Pack small orders and prepare associated shipping documents, ensuring that all machine-related documentation is correct and complete.
* Book completed machines into stock in Sage 200, and manage stock movements including issuing, un-issuing, and booking any returned parts back into stock.
* Record and address Category 1 shortages (stock items), chasing or placing orders with suppliers as needed.
* Handle quality rejections from the shop floor: communicate with suppliers, arrange returns, and expedite replacements. Update COPQ database as and when needed.
* Place purchase orders from MRP as required.
* Ensure orders are picked in line with the production schedule and expedite Category 2 shortages together with the operations team.
* Maintain accurate stock control, including cycle counting and warehouse organisation.
* Order and manage consumable stock for the shop floor.
* Receive incoming goods, check for damage, verify against delivery notes, and book into the system. Issue parts to machines if required.
* Attend 2 daily meetings with operations to coordinate stores requirements and action production needs.
* Participate in warehouse safety checks and report hazards.
* Handle occasional deliveries and collections using the company vehicle.
* Contribute to continuous improvement efforts, maintaining cleanliness, organization, and implementing process improvements. To be done using 5S principles.
* Support and manage stock takes, and cycling counting (to be reviewed).
* Maintain picked machine orders in line with the production schedule.
* Maintain and update picking lists for shortages on machines that are in build.
Qualifications and Experience required :
• Experience in stores or logistics roles is highly desirable.
• Sage 200 experience preferable (training provided if needed).
• Forklift truck licence needed (training can be provided if required).
• Driving licence essential.
• Strong stock control and inventory management experience.
• Computer skills including email and Excel
• Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision and the ability to prioritise duties in a fast-moving environment
• Well organised, enthusiastic, flexible and have a can-do attitude.

Hours of Work are :
Monday to Thursday: 07:40 - 16:00 (20min lunch)
Friday: 07:40 - 13:40 (no lunch)
