How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Public Health Building Services Engineer to join a growing team delivering diverse projects from feasibility through to completion.Working within a multidisciplinary environment, you will collaborate with experts across sustainability, energy, carbon, BIM, civil, structural, fire, acoustics and lighting disciplines to deliver integrated engineering solutions. You will take a lead role in public health design delivery whilst supporting the development of junior engineers and contributing to the successful delivery of complex projects.Key responsibilities include:

    Leading public health design delivery on a wide range of building projects.
    Designing domestic water, gas and drainage systems.
    Producing technical calculations, reports, specifications and design solutions.
    Managing multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring quality, programme and commercial objectives are achieved.
    Providing technical leadership, guidance and mentoring to junior team members.
    Working directly with clients and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
    Coordinating multidisciplinary teams and external consultants.
    Supporting sustainable and low-carbon design strategies across projects.
    Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, regulations and industry standards.
    Driving digital innovation and identifying opportunities for automation and improved project delivery.
    Supporting the delivery of complex local, national and international projects.Projects are typically delivered across a wide range of sectors, with particular opportunities within science, research and technical facilities.What you'll need to succeed

    What you'll get in return
    To be considered for this opportunity, you will ideally have:

    A degree in Building Services Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
    Chartered Engineer status or be actively working towards chartership through a recognised institution such as CIBSE or IMechE.
    Proven experience within public health building services design.
    Strong knowledge of domestic water systems, gas services and drainage design.
    Experience with foul, trade and rainwater drainage systems.
    Knowledge of medical gas systems, fire suppression systems and below-ground drainage would be advantageous.
    Experience leading multidisciplinary project teams and coordinating external consultants.
    Strong understanding of current legislation, regulations and industry standards.
    Experience using Revit, AutoCAD and BIM design processes.
    Excellent communication, report writing and stakeholder management skills.
    A passion for sustainable design and delivering environmentally responsible engineering solutions.What you need to do now
