How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Machine Shop Manager – Westbury – up to £80,000 + Benefits – Ref 1001

I am currently recruiting for an experienced Machine shop Manager to take responsibility for a CNC machining department within a growing manufacturing operation.

This is a hands-on Machine Shop Manager position combining production management, CNC technical expertise, people development and continuous improvement. With increasing production volumes, you’ll be responsible for ensuring the machine shop has the capacity, processes and capability to meet manufacturing demand safely, accurately and efficiently.

    The role

A successful Machine Shop Manager will oversee the performance and development of the machine shop staff.

    Key responsibilities include:

    * Managing daily machine shop production and priorities.

    * Planning workloads around available people, machinery and capacity.

    * Leading and developing operators and supervisors.

    * Monitoring schedules, work in progress and production risks.

    * Reviewing tooling, fixtures, set-ups, programmes and cycle times.

    * Improving machining methods, workflow, machine utilisation and process reliability.

    * Investigating downtime, scrap, rework and production constraints.

    * Introducing and measuring practical manufacturing improvements.

    * Assessing opportunities for new equipment, technology and processes.

    * Supporting increased production volumes through improved capacity and performance.

    About you

    You’ll need:

    * Substantial practical CNC machining experience, including turning and milling.

    * Previous experience leading a machine shop or comparable precision manufacturing operation.

    * Strong knowledge of machining methods, tooling, set-ups and production flow.

    * Experience planning production across people and machinery.

    * A proven record of identifying, implementing and measuring manufacturing improvements.

    * Strong people leadership and team development skills.

    * A proactive approach to solving production and technical problems.

    Interested?

If you’re an experienced Machine Shop Manager who combines technical knowledge with production leadership and can demonstrate measurable manufacturing improvements, this could be an excellent next step for your career. The organisation fully supports career development and the opportunity to progress within the business as it grows will become available.
