How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Project Manager - Heritage Construction

    Location: Office based in Greater Manchester

    Salary: £48,000 - £55,000 + Package (DOE)

    Sector: Heritage, Conservation & Refurbishment

    The Opportunity

    Our client is a specialist contractor delivering a range of heritage, conservation, restoration and refurbishment projects. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Project Manager who can bring genuine construction expertise to the business and provide valuable support to the Construction Director and wider operational team.

    The client is looking for an established construction professional capable of taking ownership of projects from pre-construction through to completion, alleviating pressure on senior leadership and driving successful project outcomes.

    The Role

    You will be responsible for managing multiple construction and heritage projects, ensuring they are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the highest standards of quality.

    The successful candidate will act as a key point of contact for clients, consultants, subcontractors and site teams, whilst maintaining full oversight of commercial, operational and programme performance.

    Key Responsibilities

    Lead projects from pre-construction through to completion and handover.
    Manage project programmes, budgets and resource allocation.
    Oversee subcontractor procurement and supply chain management.
    Build and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships.
    Ensure projects are delivered safely and in accordance with company standards.
    Monitor commercial performance, forecasting and cost control.
    Coordinate site teams and provide leadership across project delivery functions.
    Produce progress reports and project updates for senior management.
    Identify and mitigate project risks.
    Support the Construction Director with operational planning and project strategy.
    Ideal Background

    The successful candidate will possess experience similar to that of a senior Project or Contracts Manager who has:

    Delivered construction and refurbishment projects valued up to £10 million.
    Managed projects across heritage, conservation, education, healthcare, commercial, residential or social housing sectors.
    Overseen projects from pre-construction through to handover.
    Demonstrated strong commercial awareness including procurement, budgeting and forecasting.
    Built effective relationships with clients, consultants and subcontractors.
    Successfully led site teams and multidisciplinary project teams.
    Delivered complex refurbishment and restoration schemes, including listed buildings.
    Maintained high health & safety and quality standards throughout project delivery.
    Desirable Experience

    Experience working on projects such as:

    Grade I & Grade II Listed Buildings.
    Heritage restoration and conservation schemes.
    Museum refurbishments.
    Historic educational facilities.
    High-end residential refurbishments.
    Complex occupied-building renovations.
    Candidates with a proven track record delivering heritage projects and managing stakeholder expectations within sensitive environments will be viewed particularly favourably.

    Essential Qualifications

    SMSTS
    Valid CSCS Card
    First Aid at Work
    Construction Management, Project Management or related qualification
    Full UK Driving Licence
    Personal Attributes

    Commercially astute with excellent organisational ability.
    Confident communicator and stakeholder manager.
    Proactive and solutions-focused approach.
    Able to work autonomously whilst supporting wider business objectives.
