How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Associate Building Surveyor

    Location: Bristol
    Salary: £60-80k, dependent on experience
    Type: Full-time

    The Opportunity

    I’m currently working with a growing and well-established property and building consultancy who are looking to appoint an Associate Building Surveyor to join their Bristol team.

    This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Building Surveyor who is looking to take the next step in their career and play a key role in the continued growth of a successful and collaborative consultancy.
    You’ll have the opportunity to work across a diverse portfolio of projects and clients, taking ownership of instructions while developing client relationships and supporting more junior members of the team.
    The Role As an Associate Building Surveyor, you will be involved in a broad range of Building Surveying instructions, with a strong focus on delivering high-quality technical advice and managing projects from inception through to completion.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    Undertaking building surveys, condition surveys and technical due diligence.
    Preparing detailed reports, specifications and schedules of work.
    Providing technical advice and solutions to a diverse range of clients.
    Managing refurbishment and maintenance projects.
    Preparing tender documentation and supporting procurement processes.
    Contract administration, including JCT contracts.
    Monitoring projects on site, including quality, programme and costs.
    Undertaking defect diagnosis and providing appropriate remedial advice.
    Preparing schedules of condition and dilapidations.
    Managing client relationships and acting as a key point of contact.
    Working collaboratively with colleagues, contractors and other professional consultants.
    Supporting and mentoring junior members of the Building Surveying team.
    Assisting with business development and identifying opportunities with existing and prospective clients.
    Contributing to the continued development and growth of the Bristol office. About You

    The successful candidate will be an experienced Building Surveyor with strong consultancy experience and the confidence to take ownership of projects and client relationships.
    Ideally, you will have:

    MRICS qualification or be approaching chartership.
    A relevant Building Surveying degree or equivalent qualification.
    Strong experience across core Building Surveying disciplines.
    Consultancy experience within a Building Surveying or multidisciplinary environment.
    Experience in contract administration, specifications, project management and building surveys.
    Good knowledge of JCT contracts and construction processes.
    Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    Strong commercial awareness and client management skills.
    The ability to manage your own workload and multiple projects.
    An interest in developing junior colleagues and contributing to the wider team.
    A proactive approach to business development and building long-term client relationships. The Consultancy
