Key Responsibilities:
Lead and oversee the estates workstream on a major flood defence and coastal erosion risk management project
Support the Council's Estates team by reviewing and signing off relevant documentation
Provide sound professional advice on estate management, landlord and tenant matters, and acquisition law
Review detailed Heads of Terms, agreements and other estate-related documents
Monitor the delivery of work undertaken by appointed commercial land agents and legal advisers
Ensure that the Council's interests are protected when working with landowners, stakeholders and project partners
Collaborate with the Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management team and wider project specialists
Support the successful delivery of the flood defence scheme through effective stakeholder and land management
Job Requirements:
Significant experience in estate management and surveying, ideally within a public sector, highways or infrastructure environment
Professional experience leading or overseeing estates workstreams on complex capital projects
Strong knowledge of landlord and tenant law and property acquisition law
Experience reviewing Heads of Terms, legal agreements and land-related documentation
Ability to provide clear, well-informed professional advice to internal teams and senior stakeholders
Experience managing or overseeing the work of commercial land agents and legal advisers
Sound understanding of stakeholder engagement, land negotiations and property risk management
Knowledge of flood risk management law would be advantageous but is not essential
