Fortress Recruit is supporting a leading global engineering organisation with the recruitment of a Lead Offline CADCAM Programmer based in Portsmouth. This is a senior, hands on position leading a CNC programming team and taking responsibility for delivering accurate, efficient programmes to support a busy and technically demanding manufacturing environment.
Key responsibilities will include:
* Planning and allocating CNC programming work across the team
* Creating offline CNC programmes for complex 5 axis mill turn machinery
* Developing programmes for Mazak and other CNC equipment
* Creating tooling and machine setup documentation
* Improving programming processes and reducing programme creation times
* Developing and maintaining CNC programming software and systems
* Working closely with machinists to ensure programmes are practical and production ready
* Supporting continuous improvement across the programming function
* Supervising and mentoring junior programmers
* Supporting skills development and cross training within the team
* Ensuring quality, safety and delivery requirements are consistently achieved
To be successful in this role, you will have:
* 10 years' CNC programming experience within manufacturing
* A strong machinist or apprentice trained background
* Extensive offline CNC programming experience
* Strong experience with 5 axis mill turn machining
* Experience with Mazak machinery and Mazatrol programming
* Proficiency with Edgecam, Mastercam or similar CAM software
* Strong CAD skills, ideally Solid Edge or a similar system
* Good knowledge of tooling, work holding and fixture requirements
* Experience working with complex materials such as Inconel, Duplex or NAB would be advantageous
* Knowledge of mill turn machining techniques
* Vericut or other anti collision software experience would be beneficial
* Knowledge of ISO programming would be advantageous
* Experience of continuous improvement and Six Sigma principles
* Strong communication, problem solving and team leadership skills
* HNC/HND desirable, although relevant experience will be considered
This is a senior technical role within a high precision manufacturing environment, offering the opportunity to lead a specialist programming team whilst remaining closely involved in complex CNC programming and continuous improvement.
This is a full time, permanent position based onsite in Portsmouth, offering a salary up to £53K DoE, plus bonus and comprehensive benefits package.
