How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Location: Wolverhampton

    Rate of Pay: £28 per hour + £3.38 accrued holiday pay

    Contract: Part-time, with flexible hours

    Start Date: October 2026 (for the new 2026/2027 Academic Year)

    As a Specialist One-to-One Study Skills Support Worker, you will provide vital academic guidance and create individual learning plans tailored to student needs. Your primary goal is to foster independent learning by supporting students to:

    Develop independence and build on their learning strengths.
    Create essential strategies for organisation and time management.
    Formulate action plans to successfully stay on track with studies.
    Build on crucial research skills, including widening knowledge, distinguishing appropriate sources, and correctly using references.
    Enhance reading and writing comprehension skills.You are expected to act professionally, maintain confidentiality, and address any student concerns in a timely manner.

    Mandatory Qualification Requirements:

    This is a specialist, Disabled Students Allowance (DSA) funded role. Candidates must adhere strictly to the qualification framework set out by the Department for Education (DfE).

    You MUST possess the below qualifications as a minimum:

    An Undergraduate Degree (Level 6 minimum) along with a Professional Membership.

    Desirable skills include:

    Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
    Ability to identify ways of helping students to build on their learning strengths whilst maintaining a confidential and professional working relationship
    Punctuality and reliability
    Good organisational skills
    Ability to manage a caseload of students
