How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

We are looking for an Applications Engineer - Battery Diagnostic Systems to work for an innovative battery technology company that develops diagnostic hardware and software for battery laboratories and manufacturing environments. You will lead the technical side of the customer journey, from discovery and demonstrations through to deployment and ongoing support, while helping to build the processes that will shape the function as the business grows.

The Applications Engineer - Battery Diagnostic Systems will be responsible for:

Contributing to advanced customer conversations, translating customer needs into system configurations, test plans, pilot scopes and deployment requirements.
Providing technical input to proposals, tenders and statements of work in support of the Commercial team.
Planning and leading tailored demonstrations, evaluations and customer-site pilots, and presenting results clearly.
Leading the installation, commissioning and performance verification of systems in customer laboratories and manufacturing sites.
Acting as the main technical contact for deployed customers, diagnosing issues across hardware, software and data, and coordinating escalation where needed.
Turning customer experience into practical procedures, application notes, checklists and troubleshooting guides, and capturing field evidence to inform Product and R&D.
The Applications Engineer - Battery Diagnostic Systems will have:

Around 5-8 years' experience combining hands-on engineering with customer-facing applications, field, systems engineering or technical sales work.
A degree in electrical, electronic, mechanical, mechatronic, systems or control engineering, physics or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
A proven record of building, integrating or commissioning physical systems such as instrumentation, sensors, test rigs or scientific equipment.
Competence in low-voltage electronics, sensors, data acquisition and control interfaces, with the ability to read schematics and diagnose faults methodically.
Experience turning recurring technical work into clear, usable procedures and documentation.
Willingness to travel regularly within the UK and internationally, sometimes at short notice.
This is a rare chance to take ownership of a brand-new function at a growing deep-tech business and have a direct influence on how it develops. If you're interested, apply with your current CV and we'll be in touch to discuss the next steps
