How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Project Manager - DNO / Utilities

    Location: North East / UK

    Salary: £60,000

    Employment Type: Permanent

    We are looking for an experienced Project Manager with a strong background in the utilities sector, ideally with direct experience delivering projects for or alongside a Distribution Network Operator (DNO).

    The successful candidate will be responsible for managing projects from initial planning and mobilisation through to completion, ensuring they are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the required quality standards.

    The role will involve managing contractors, site teams and suppliers, coordinating with clients and stakeholders, monitoring project performance and ensuring all health, safety, environmental and commercial requirements are met.

    Key responsibilities:

    Manage projects from inception through to completion
    Develop and maintain project programmes and delivery plans
    Manage budgets, costs, forecasting and commercial performance
    Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers and site teams
    Manage client and stakeholder relationships
    Monitor project progress and provide regular reporting
    Identify and manage risks, issues and project dependencies
    Ensure compliance with HSEQ, CDM and relevant industry standards
    Attend client, site and project meetings
    Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to specification
    Manage project documentation, governance and reporting
    Support the resolution of technical, commercial and operational issuesExperience required:

    Proven experience as a Project Manager within utilities, energy, construction or infrastructure
    Previous experience working on DNO or electricity distribution projects
    Good understanding of electrical distribution infrastructure
    Experience managing contractors and multiple stakeholders
    Strong commercial and financial awareness
    Experience managing project programmes, budgets and risks
    Strong understanding of health, safety and environmental requirements
    Excellent communication and organisational skills
    Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritiesDNO experience:

    Candidates with experience working with electricity distribution networks are particularly sought after. Experience with organisations such as Northern Powergrid, UK Power Networks, SP Energy Networks, Electricity North West or National Grid would be relevant.

    This would suit an experienced Project Manager who has a strong utilities background and is looking to take ownership of DNO and infrastructure projects.
