How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Two posts | 18.75 hours per week | Home and community based
    Role summary one role based in Mendip/South Somerset the other Sedgemoor/Taunton and West Somerset
    The Resilience Support Worker provides practical, person-centred support to individuals and families experiencing financial hardship, crisis, or who are at risk of financial instability. The postholder will help people access crisis payments and other immediate support where eligible, build financial resilience, and connect with longer-term solutions that improve wellbeing and independence.
    This is a responsive, community-based role. It combines direct client support, community development and partnership working so that people receive the right help at the right time, while strengthening local responses to crisis and reducing the likelihood of future hardship.
    Key responsibilities
    Referrals, assessment and direct support
    * Use the prioritisation system to triage referrals and assess need, ensuring urgent cases are responded to promptly.
    * Carry out holistic, person-centred assessments for individuals requiring more in-depth support.
    * Support individuals and families following a sudden financial shock, including loss of income, unexpected costs, illness or housing issues, and provide timely support to prevent escalation into crisis.
    * Support access to crisis payments and other immediate financial support where eligible.
    * Develop personalised support plans addressing immediate needs and longer-term resilience.
    * Provide accurate information, advice and practical support to help people manage their situation.
    * Refer to appropriate services, including advice, health, housing and specialist support.
    * Research grant funds and other sources of financial assistance and support people with applications where appropriate.
    Partnership and community work
    * Build and maintain strong relationships with local partners, services and community groups.
    * Act as a connector between individuals and the services, groups and opportunities available to them.
    * Identify unmet need and gaps in local provision and proactively plan and deliver engagement activities and events to raise awareness of the programme.
    * Reach people who may be unaware of their eligibility and build relationships with harder-to-reach and marginalised communities to increase access to support.
    * Support the development and promotion of community-based solutions that can reduce reliance on statutory services.
    * Map local organisations, groups and networks to strengthen knowledge of available support.
    Service delivery and records
    * Offer flexible appointments in person, online or by telephone according to individual need.
    * Maintain accurate and timely records.
    * Use the Frontline system for referrals, the organisation’s Airtable CRM, and the lone-working safety system.
    * Work flexibly from home and in communities across the relevant geographical area.
    Person specification
    Essential requirements
    * 5 GCSEs or equivalent, including English and Maths.
    * Full current driving licence.
    * Access to a reliable car insured for business purposes.
    * Access to a reliable broadband connection.
    * A suitable home-working environment.
    * Ability to undertake an Enhanced DBS check.
    Skills and personal qualities
    * Strong communication, listening and relationship-building skills.
    * Empathy, patience and a non-judgemental approach.
    * Ability to manage a varied and demanding caseload.
    * Problem-solving skills and the ability to develop creative, practical solutions.
    * Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    * Good IT skills and the ability to maintain accurate records.
    Terms and location
    Hours: 18.75 hours per week.
    Salary: £27,000 full-time equivalent for 37.5 hours; £13,500 actual salary for 18.75 hours.
    Contract: Initial contract until March 2027, with an expectation of renewal until March 2029.
    Working arrangements: Home and community based within the relevant area, with a flexible working pattern.
