How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Grass Roots Academic Support is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced English Teacher / Secondary English Teacher to join a successful secondary school in Colchester. This is an excellent opportunity for a Qualified English Teacher or ECT to teach English across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, engaging and motivating students while helping them achieve their full potential.

    As a English Teacher, you will be responsible for:

    * Planning and delivering engaging English lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.

    * Teaching in line with the National Curriculum and adapting lessons to individual students’ abilities.

    * Assessing student progress and setting appropriate targets for improvement.

    * Using effective classroom and behaviour management strategies.

    * Engaging and motivating students to achieve their full potential.

    * Creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.

    * Working collaboratively with colleagues and contributing to the wider school community.

    * Supporting students to improve their academic achievement and develop their confidence in English.

    The successful English Teacher will have:

    * Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

    * Experience teaching English within a secondary school setting.

    * Experience teaching Key Stage 3 and/or Key Stage 4.

    * A proven teaching record and/or high-quality references.

    * Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.

    * The ability to engage, motivate and inspire students.

    * A good understanding of the National Curriculum.

    * A current Enhanced DBS Disclosure, or willingness to complete a new DBS application where required.

    * The right to work in the UK.

    * A commitment to supporting students’ academic and personal development.

    This is an excellent opportunity for an English Teacher or Secondary English Teacher to join a successful school in Colchester. The role offers a competitive daily rate of £130–£220, initially for two terms on a full time basis.
