How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Position: Senior Quantity Surveyor

    Location: Winchester Area

    Salary: £50,000 - £70,000 DOE

    Bennett & Game are representing a privately owned quantity surveying and project management consultancy who are seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their growing team.

    The business provides quantity surveying, project management, project monitoring and dispute resolution services across a varied portfolio of projects throughout the UK. Their work covers sectors including residential, commercial, industrial, defence, marine and ecclesiastical projects, with typical project values around £5m and opportunities to become involved with larger schemes as the business continues to grow.

    This is an excellent opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor looking to step into a Senior position within a genuinely close-knit consultancy. You will have the opportunity to take ownership of your own projects, work directly with clients and consultant teams, and gain broad exposure across different sectors rather than being pigeonholed into one particular area.     Take responsibility for the commercial and cost management of projects from inception through to completion
    Manage multiple projects across a varied range of sectors and maintain strong client relationships
    Prepare feasibility studies, cost estimates and cost plans throughout the design process
    Manage procurement and tendering processes, including analysis of tender returns and providing recommendations to clients
    Provide pre and post-contract cost management, including valuations, change control and final accounts
    Advise clients and project teams on procurement routes, contract matters and commercial considerations
    Attend project meetings and work closely with clients, contractors and multidisciplinary consultant teams
    Contribute to the continued growth of the consultancy through client relationships, networking and identifying opportunitiesSenior Quantity Surveyor Position Requirements

    Previous Quantity Surveying experience gained within a consultancy / PQS environment is essential
    MRICS qualified or actively working towards chartership through the APC process
    Strong pre and post-contract experience
    Experience of managing projects independently and dealing directly with clients
    Good knowledge of JCT contracts, with NEC experience advantageous
    Strong commercial awareness with excellent cost control and analytical skills
    Good communication, client-facing and technical writing skills
