How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    ENVIRONMENTAL TEST ENGINEER

    Location: Fareham

    Are you an Engineer, Technician or STEM professional with laboratory experience looking to develop your career within a specialist testing environment?

    We're working with a leading technology and testing organisation that is continuing to grow, and we're looking for an Environmental Test Engineer to join a highly skilled team delivering environmental testing services to customers across a wide range of industries.

    This is a varied, hands-on role where you'll work directly with customers, operate specialist environmental test equipment, analyse test data and help develop testing methods and processes.

    THE ROLE

    As part of a team of environmental test specialists, you'll contribute to the delivery of a comprehensive environmental testing service, working on a variety of customer projects.

    You'll be involved in:

    Conducting environmental testing, including Temperature, Humidity, Pressure and Ingress Protection testing.
    Working to relevant test standards and customer-defined test plans.
    Operating environmental test equipment and monitoring testing throughout the process.
    Working closely with customers during attended testing.
    Recording and managing test results using electronic logbook systems.
    Analysing, manipulating and presenting electronic test data.
    Producing accurate, professional test reports in line with quality procedures.
    Liaising directly with customers regarding test specifications, test requirements and interpretation of results.
    Working closely with the Test Manager to ensure projects are delivered accurately and within agreed timescales.
    Helping to develop and refine test plans in collaboration with customers.
    Supporting the development of test methods and departmental documentation.
    Identifying and implementing continuous improvement opportunities to improve testing processes and efficiency.WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

    The key requirement is experience working within a laboratory environment.

    We're particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate:

    Experience working in a laboratory or technical testing environment.
    Practical experience of climatic/environmental testing and operating environmental test equipment would be highly advantageous.
    Previous experience within a test house would be beneficial.
    Knowledge of laboratory quality systems and operating procedures.
    A technical qualification in a STEM-related subject would be advantageous.
    Strong numerical, analytical and logical skills.
    Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel.
    Excellent attention to detail and the ability to accurately record and interpret data.
    Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a technical team.
    A motivated and enthusiastic approach, with a genuine willingness to learn and develop.WHY THIS ROLE?
