How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Senior Quantity Surveyor – International Main Contractor - Data Centres

Salary/Package: Up to £125,000 remuneration package + Company Car + Accommodation + Discretionary Bonus + Additional Benefits

O’Neill and Brennan are currently working with a leading main contractor who are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team on a major project.

The successful candidate will act as the lead commercial point of contact for the project, taking full commercial responsibility from procurement and pre-contract through to final account. Working closely with the Project Director, Commercial Director and wider project team, you will play a key role in ensuring the successful commercial delivery of the project.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor looking to take the next step in their career and assume genuine ownership of a major project within a well-established and growing contractor.

The role would suit an individual who has gained experience working for a Tier 1 or Tier 2 main contractor, although sector experience is not essential. Candidates from a range of construction backgrounds will be considered, provided they have strong main contracting commercial experience and have previously operated as the lead commercial representative on a project.

Due to the location of the project, candidates with an Irish or European passport would be preferred. However, sponsorship can be considered for the right candidate.

The package on offer is highly competitive and can include company car, accommodation and a discretionary bonus, alongside a remuneration package of up to £125,000, depending on experience and suitability.

    Role Overview:

    Title: Senior Quantity Surveyor
    Project: Major Construction Project

    Responsibilities:

Acting as the lead commercial point of contact for the project, taking full commercial responsibility from procurement through to final account
Managing the commercial delivery of the project in line with agreed budgets, programmes and contractual requirements
Procuring and commercially managing subcontract packages from tender through to final account
Preparing subcontract enquiries, tender analysis, negotiations and recommendations for award
Managing subcontractor payments, valuations, variations, claims and final accounts
Preparing and maintaining accurate cost reports, forecasts and cash-flow projections
Identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle
Ensuring contractual obligations are understood and adhered to across the project team
Working closely with the Project Manager, Construction Manager, Design Team and senior management to ensure successful project delivery
Managing and developing relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and supply chain partners
Providing clear and accurate commercial reporting to senior management
Supporting the resolution of commercial and contractual issues as they arise
Taking ownership of the project's commercial performance and driving effective cost control
    Requirements:

Proven experience working as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within a main contracting environment
Previous experience acting as the lead commercial contact on a project is essential
Strong experience across procurement, subcontract management, valuations, variations, forecasting and final accounts
Ideally, experience working for a Tier 1 or Tier 2 main contractor
Strong commercial and contractual knowledge with excellent negotiation and communication skills
Experience managing significant project values and complex subcontract packages
Ability to operate autonomously and take full ownership of the commercial function on a project
Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills
Sector experience is not essential; candidates from a range of construction backgrounds will be considered
Irish or European passport preferred, although sponsorship can be considered for the right candidate
Willingness to relocate/travel to the project location as required
If you're a Senior Quantity Surveyor with strong main contracting experience and have previously acted as the lead commercial point of contact on a project, please contact Ned Scott-Mends on (phone number removed), or send your CV via email at .
