How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Location: Thame, Oxfordshire
    Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm

    The Role

    As a CNC Turner, you will be responsible for programming, setting and operating multi-axis CNC turning centres to produce complex, high-precision components.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    Programming, setting and operating CNC multi-axis turning centres
    Manufacturing precision components to engineering drawings, CAD models and customer specifications
    Operating Fanuc-controlled CNC lathes to achieve high levels of productivity and quality
    Carrying out offline programming using Hypermill, as well as making programme adjustments where required
    Machining a variety of challenging materials, including stainless steel, titanium,
    Inconel, aerospace alloys and other exotic materials

    Carrying out first-off, in-process and final inspections to ensure components meet strict quality standards and tight tolerances
    Operating multiple machines where required to maximise production efficiency
    Completing production documentation and maintaining accurate manufacturing records
    Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives within the machining department
    Maintaining high standards of quality, health & safety and manufacturing procedures
    About You

    The successful candidate will have previous experience working as a CNC Turner Programmer/Setter/Operator within a precision engineering environment.

    You will ideally have:

    Strong experience programming and setting multi-axis CNC lathes with Fanuc controls
    Proven experience with Hypermill offline programming
    A strong background in manufacturing complex, precision-machined components to tight tolerances
    Experience machining aerospace alloys, titanium, Inconel, stainless steel and other exotic materials would be highly advantageous
    The ability to confidently read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
    Experience carrying out manual inspection and quality control procedures
    The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
    A flexible, motivated and quality-focused approach
    A genuine passion for precision engineering and producing high-quality work
