Associate / Associate Director - Transport Planning
Due to continued growth and an increased project workload, my client is looking for an experienced and ambitious Associate / Associate Director to join their transport planning team in Nottingham. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced individual looking to take the next step in their career and play a key role in the continued growth and development of the team and business. They are looking for a confident, people-orientated individual who can take ownership of projects, lead and develop members of the transport planning team, and build strong and lasting relationships with clients and other project stakeholders.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a varied range of projects, from initial site appraisal and development of transport strategies through to planning submission, determination, and delivery.
The successful candidate will:
·Have relevant experience with a strong track record of delivering transport planning projects.
·Have experience of working on a range of private sector development projects, including employment, residential and mixed-use schemes.
·Have experience of leading and taking ownership of a range of projects, including larger scale developments, coordinating project teams, and ensuring successful delivery to programme and budget.
·Have strong technical knowledge and experience in areas including Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, Environmental Statements, access and parking strategies, sustainable transport and active travel provision.
·Have practical experience of vision-led transport planning, with the ability to develop sustainable transport and active travel strategies that support the principles of sustainable development and reduce reliance on the private car. This should include experience of developing walking and cycling networks, active travel connections and appropriate transport mitigation, together with a strong understanding of relevant national and local planning and transport policy and guidance, including the NPPF, LTN 1/20, Manual for Streets and relevant DfT guidance.
·Be experienced in the use of transport assessment and modelling tools, including TRICS, Junctions and LinSig, together with knowledge of design software such as AutoCAD and AutoTrack.
·Have strong project management and commercial awareness, including experience of budget and resource planning, fee management, invoicing and monitoring project performance.
·Be capable of carrying out and/or supervising conceptual junction design, including priority, roundabout and signal-controlled junctions.
·Have experience of managing, supporting and developing staff, including allocating resources, overseeing workloads, providing technical guidance and mentoring more junior members of the team.
·Have excellent communication skills and the confidence to lead discussions with clients, local authorities, co-professionals and other project stakeholders.
·Have the ability to develop and maintain strong client relationships, understand client requirements and identify opportunities for further work.
·Be commercially aware and able to contribute to business development, including preparing fee proposals, identifying new opportunities and supporting the growth of existing client relationships.
·Be a proactive team player who is comfortable taking responsibility, making decisions and providing leadership within the team.
