How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    A growing fire safety consultancy is looking to appoint an experienced Fire Surveyor to join their Bristol team. The successful Fire Surveyor will work across a varied portfolio of residential, commercial and mixed-use properties throughout Bristol and the South West.

    The Fire Surveyor's Role

    The Fire Surveyor will be responsible for carrying out detailed fire safety inspections and producing clear, accurate reports for a range of clients.

    Typical responsibilities will include:

    Undertaking fire compartmentation surveys

    Inspecting fire doors and associated passive fire protection measures

    Completing intrusive and non-intrusive fire safety surveys

    Identifying defects and areas of non-compliance

    Producing detailed survey reports and remedial recommendations

    Reviewing drawings, specifications and building information

    Liaising with clients, contractors and property teams

    Supporting wider fire safety and compliance projects

    The Fire Surveyor

    The successful Fire Surveyor will ideally have:

    Previous experience within fire surveying, passive fire protection or building surveying

    Knowledge of fire doors, compartmentation and fire-stopping systems

    A relevant qualification in Fire Safety, Building Surveying, Construction or a related discipline

    Knowledge of current UK fire safety legislation and guidance

    Strong report-writing and communication skills

    Experience using digital surveying or reporting software

    A full UK driving licence

    Relevant industry qualifications, such as IFE, FDIS, CIOB or equivalent fire safety accreditation, would be beneficial.
