How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Maintenance Engineer

    Salary: £49,649 per annum
    Shift: Permanent lates, 4:00pm - 1:00am
    Location: Derby
    Start Date: ASAP
    Employment Type: Permanent
    Overtime/Shift Allowance: Available

    We are recruiting for an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join a well-established food manufacturing business in Derby.

    This is an excellent opportunity for a multi-skilled engineer to join an established engineering team, supporting the maintenance of production equipment and helping to minimise downtime.

    The Role

    Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will carry out planned and reactive maintenance across a busy production environment.

    Key responsibilities include:

    Electrical and mechanical fault finding and repair.
    Diagnosing faults on PLCs, SCADA systems and PCBs.
    Reading and interpreting electrical and mechanical schematics.
    Working with pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
    Maintaining and repairing conveyors and packaging machinery.
    Maintaining sealing and vacuum-packing machinery.
    Prioritising maintenance activities to minimise downtime.
    Liaising with suppliers and external service providers.
    Identifying and ordering replacement parts and equipment.
    Supporting the engineering team to maintain a safe and efficient production environment.

    About You

    The successful candidate will ideally have:

    Knowledge of BS 7671 / IET Wiring Regulations, or equivalent.
    Strong electrical fault-finding experience.
    Experience with PLCs, SCADA systems and PCBs.
    The ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics.
    Experience with pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
    Strong mechanical fault-finding skills.
    Experience with conveyors and packaging equipment.
    Knowledge of sealing and vacuum-packing machinery would be advantageous.
    City & Guilds Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent, is desirable but not essential.
    The ability to prioritise workloads and reduce equipment downtime.
    Good communication skills when working with internal teams and external suppliers.
