How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Excellent opportunity for an Office and Operation Manager to join a well-established company based in Blyth, Northumberland
    The company is looking for an organised, commercially aware and proactive Office & Operations Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day administration and operational systems of the business. This is a hands-on role within a growing marine engineering business. The successful candidate will work closely with management, customers, suppliers and employees to ensure that projects are properly quoted, purchased, documented and delivered, while maintaining strong standards of quality, health & safety and administration.
    A key part of the role will be to develop and implement effective systems and processes that allow the business to operate efficiently and support future growth.
    Main Duties
    Commercial & Project Support
    Prepare quotations for hydraulic projects, repairs, components and parts.
    Obtain and review supplier pricing and prepare accurate customer quotations.
    Monitor project costs and provide final cost information to customers.
    Maintain accurate records of quotations, orders, costs and project documentation.
    Liaise with customers regarding quotations, orders, costs and general enquiries
    Support management with commercial and operational information as required.
    Purchasing & Supplier Management
    Raise purchase orders for materials, parts, subcontract services and other requirements.
    Monitor and chase outstanding purchase orders and supplier deliveries.
    Liaise with suppliers to obtain pricing, availability and delivery information.
    Receive incoming goods and ensure they are checked, recorded and appropriately allocated.
    Maintain accurate purchasing and supplier records.
    Identify opportunities to improve purchasing processes, supplier relationships and cost control.
    Quality & Compliance
    Maintain and manage the company's quality documentation and systems.
    Ensure project and job documentation is completed accurately and maintained appropriately.
    Support the ongoing development and improvement of the company's quality management systems.
    Ensure procedures and records are maintained to the required standards.
    Monitor and follow up on quality issues and corrective actions.
    Health & Safety
    Support the management and administration of the company's health & safety systems.
    Maintain relevant health & safety documentation and records.
    Ensure required procedures, assessments and documentation are kept up to date.
    Promote a positive and responsible approach to health & safety throughout the business.
    Liaise with management and external advisers where appropriate.
    Office & Employee Administration
    Manage general office administration and act as a key point of contact for customers, suppliers and visitors.
    Answer incoming telephone calls and deal with enquiries professionally.
    Manage employee timesheets and ensure accurate records are maintained.
    Provide administrative support to management and employees.
    Maintain organised electronic and paper-based records.
    Assist with the smooth running of the company's day-to-day office operations.
    Systems & Business Improvement
    Review existing processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
    Develop and implement practical systems to improve efficiency, accountability and communication.
    Establish clear processes for purchasing, quoting, project costing, documentation and administration.
    Help introduce systems that provide management with accurate and timely information.
    Support the business as it grows by developing scalable processes and procedures.
    Take ownership of operational improvements and ensure new systems are properly implemented.
    Requirements
    Knowledge of hydraulic systems or engineering components.
    Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
    Confident dealing with customers and suppliers.
    Commercially aware and comfortable working with costs and quotations.
    Proactive and able to work independently.
    Comfortable managing multiple priorities at the same time.
    Confident using Microsoft Office and business administration systems.
    Strong at maintaining accurate records and documentation.
    Practical and process-minded, with an ability to identify and implement improvements.
    Comfortable working in a hands-on small-business environment.
    Able to communicate effectively with management, engineers, suppliers and customers.
    Small or growing business environments.
    Hydraulic systems or engineering components.
    Professional, reliable and willing to take ownership of responsibilities.
    Eligible to work permanently in the UK. Full driving licence
