How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    London and surrounding area | Nationwide travel | Permanent
    £45,000 – £58,000 DOE, plus company vehicle, accommodation, overtime and all expenses

    Are you an electrician who's spent years installing and testing LV switchgear, and wants to get onto the commissioning side properly?

    This is one of those roles that doesn't come up often. Our client is an established independent switchgear and busbar engineering house with two senior commissioning engineers in place, and they're bringing three new engineers in to train to their own standards and procedures.

    You won't be thrown in. You'll be developed into full Level 2 to Level 4 and integrated systems testing by people who've been doing it for years. Most firms poach finished commissioning engineers rather than build them, which is exactly why the people who have those skills are so hard to replace.

    The work

    Testing, commissioning, fault finding and energisation of LV switchgear and associated power distribution, across commercial, industrial and critical infrastructure projects including data centres.

    * Secondary and primary injection testing

    * Protection relay configuration and verification

    * Functional testing of control circuits and interlock verification

    * Instrument transformer testing

    * Live commissioning, energisation and load testing

    * Operational proving, final function verification and client witness testing

    * Changeover and failure scenarios

    * Protection and trip testing, control and metering interface testing

    * Integrated Systems Testing, including BMS and EPMS signals and control responses

    * Fault finding and diagnosis on LV electrical systems

    * Commissioning reports, test records, red line drawings and final documentation

    * FAT and SAT participation

    What you'll need

    * NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent

    * 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671)

    * Hands-on LV switchgear experience — switchboards, panels, distribution, busbar

    * Full UK driving licence

    * Happy to travel nationwide and work away when the job needs it

    Nice to have, not essential

    * ECS or JIB Gold Card

    * Data centre or critical power experience

    * C&G 2391 Inspection and Testing

    * SSSTS or SMSTS

    * Experience around protection relays, metering, circuit breakers or control systems

    * LV Authorised Person

    What you get

    * £45,000 – £58,000 depending on experience

    * Company vehicle or vehicle allowance

    * Accommodation covered from day one when working away, All expenses, travel, fuel and food allowance

    * Overtime paid to JIB rate guidelines, Pension contributions

    * 25 days holiday, 8am to 4pm, paid on the last working day of the month

    * Genuine training and development into a specialism that's in short supply

    * High profile infrastructure and mission critical projects
