How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    HGV TECHNICIAN
     
    £48,500 BASIC + OVERTIME
    MONDAY–FRIDAY | 37.5 HOURS – NO WEEKENDS
    Location: East London
     
    Are you an experienced HGV Technician / PSV Technician / Bus Mechanic / PSV Mechanic looking for a strong Monday-to-Friday role?
    We're looking for a qualified technician to join a busy engineering operation in West Ham, working on a fleet of buses and keeping vehicles safe, reliable and ready for service.
     
    The role of the HGV Technician / PSV Technician / Bus Mechanic / PSV Mechanic
    You'll be responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across the bus fleet, diagnosing faults and ensuring vehicles are maintained to a high standard.
    Your day-to-day work will include:

    Carrying out servicing, inspections and preventative maintenance on buses.
    Diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical faults.
    Working on engines, transmissions, braking, suspension and other vehicle systems.
    Carrying out component replacements and mechanical repairs.
    Using diagnostic equipment to identify and rectify faults.
    Ensuring vehicles are maintained in line with safety and operational standards.
    Completing maintenance records and relevant paperwork.
    Working closely with the wider engineering team to minimise vehicle downtime. 
    What you’ll need as HGV Technician / PSV Technician / Bus Mechanic / PSV Mechanic

    NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance, Vehicle Technology or equivalent.
    Previous experience as an HGV Technician, PSV Technician, Bus Technician or Commercial Vehicle Technician.
    Strong mechanical and diagnostic skills.
    Experience working on buses, coaches, HGVs or other heavy commercial vehicles.
    Good understanding of vehicle maintenance and safety requirements.
    Able to work independently and as part of a team.
    A professional and reliable approach to your work.
