How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    MEP Project Engineers

Location: Buckinghamshire / Denham, South Buckinghamshire
Project: HS2 – Major Tunnelling & Infrastructure Programme
    Duration: 4-year programme
    Employment: Contract / Permanent opportunities
    Rail experience: Not essential
    Contract option: CIS day rate
An opportunity has arisen for experienced MEP Project Engineers (one mechanical, one electrical) to join a major civil engineering joint venture delivering a significant section of the HS2 programme in Buckinghamshire.
The joint venture has completed approximately 10 miles of tunnelling and associated civil engineering works, running from South Buckinghamshire into the Chilterns. With the main tunnelling works completed, the project is moving into the next phase, including the installation of mechanical, electrical and building services infrastructure.
The project includes seven shafts and headhouses, and we are looking for MEP Project Engineers to oversee the MEP subcontractor and act as the key link between site operations and the project office.
    The Role
Working closely with the Lead MEP Project Manager, you will provide day-to-day management and supervision of MEP installation activities across the project.
    Your responsibilities will include:

Design Coordination: Review technical drawings, align shop drawings, and resolve clashes between mechanical, electrical, plumbing, architectural, and structural layouts.
Site Supervision: Oversee day-to-day on-site MEP installations to ensure work matches project specifications, building codes, and safety standards.
Procurement Support: Prepare material and equipment requisitions, evaluate vendor quotations, and track delivery schedules to avoid delays.
Testing and Commissioning: Assist in scheduling and running functional tests, pressure checks, and system handovers.
Quality and Compliance: Document contract variations, log on-site inspections, and ensure regulatory compliance (such as UK Building Regulations)
    About You
We are interested in speaking with MEP, Building Services, Mechanical or Electrical Project Engineers with experience delivering complex construction projects.
Previous rail experience is not essential. Candidates from major building services, infrastructure, commercial construction, industrial or similarly complex project environments are encouraged to apply.
You should have strong site-management skills, a practical understanding of MEP installation and the ability to manage subcontractors effectively.
    Career Development
This is more than a short-term project opportunity. The Lead MEP Project Manager is particularly interested in developing talented building services professionals who have the potential to become future leaders within the parent business.
Successful candidates will have the opportunity to develop their experience on one of the UK's largest infrastructure programmes, with the potential to move into future projects within the principal contractor following completion and handover of the HS2 works.
The programme is expected to run for approximately four years, providing excellent continuity and long-term career potential.

    Contract Options
Both freelance/contract and permanent opportunities can be considered.
For freelance candidates, we are happy to run an IR35 assessment for Ltd Company contractors
The project office is based in Denham, South Buckinghamshire, with regular site involvement across the Buckinghamshire HS2 works
