How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Mechanical Draughtsman

    Job Overview

    We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Draughtsman with strong SolidWorks and fabrication experience to produce detailed 2D drawings, 3D models and fabrication packages for mechanical equipment, components and assemblies.

    The successful candidate will have a practical understanding of manufacturing and fabrication processes, ensuring designs are accurate, cost-effective and suitable for manufacture, assembly and installation.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Produce detailed 2D engineering drawings and 3D models using SolidWorks.

    * Develop fabrication drawings, general arrangements, assembly drawings and manufacturing packages.

    * Create detailed models using SolidWorks Sheet Metal, Weldments and Assemblies.

    * Produce bills of materials (BOMs), cutting lists and material specifications.

    * Ensure designs are suitable for fabrication, welding, machining and assembly.

    * Work closely with workshop teams, engineers and project managers to resolve technical and manufacturing issues.

    * Incorporate design changes, workshop feedback and as-built modifications.

    * Ensure drawings comply with relevant engineering standards, quality requirements and client specifications.

    * Manage drawing revisions and technical documentation to meet project deadlines.

    * Identify opportunities to improve design efficiency, reduce material waste and minimise fabrication costs.

    Skills & Experience

    * Proven experience as a Mechanical Draughtsman or Mechanical CAD Technician within a fabrication or manufacturing environment.

    * Strong proficiency in SolidWorks, including 3D modelling, assemblies, sheet metal and weldments.

    * Experience producing detailed fabrication and manufacturing drawings.

    * Good understanding of welding, machining, steel fabrication and manufacturing processes.

    * Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications and design requirements.

    * Experience working closely with fabrication and workshop teams.

    * Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills and ability to meet project deadlines.

    Qualifications

    * HNC, HND or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Design is desirable.

    * SolidWorks certification or relevant CAD qualifications would be advantageous.

    * Practical fabrication or manufacturing experience is highly desirable
