How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

We are seeking a practical and technically minded Engineering Technician with experience in electronics, RF, manufacturing or a similar engineering environment. This is a varied, hands-on role supporting RF, electronics and mechanical development, with the opportunity to develop a broad range of engineering skills.

Based in Cambridge, you will provide practical engineering support across the development, assembly and testing of high-performance products, working alongside RF, electronics, software and mechanical engineers to take designs from prototype through to production.

Responsibilities of the Engineering Technician job in Cambridge

    • Supporting RF and electronic testing and measurement, using equipment including network analysers, signal generators, power meters and oscilloscopes.

    • Carrying out soldering, PCB rework, prototype fault-finding and component replacement, alongside cable, RF cable assembly and electrical wiring harness manufacture.

    • Supporting mechanical assembly, prototype builds and engineering development, including the production of components, fixtures and test jigs using 3D printing and CNC equipment.

    • Maintaining laboratory equipment, recording test results and engineering data, running basic automated test scripts and working with engineers to resolve practical technical problems.

Requirements of the Engineering Technician job in Cambridge

    • Practical engineering experience within electronics, RF, manufacturing or a similar technical environment, with experience using electronic test and measurement equipment.

    • Experience with soldering and/or PCB rework, with the ability to read basic schematics, wiring diagrams and mechanical drawings.

    • Basic test automation or scripting experience, preferably using Python or MATLAB; experience with cable/wiring harness assembly would be advantageous.

    • A practical, methodical approach with strong attention to detail; experience with 3D printing, CNC machining or CAD would be beneficial, alongside a willingness to develop skills across different engineering disciplines.

This is an excellent opportunity for an Engineering Technician to develop their technical career within a multidisciplinary engineering environment, gaining hands-on experience across RF measurement, electronics, PCB rework, prototype assembly, testing, fault-finding and mechanical engineering while supporting high-performance products for Space, Aerospace, Defence and Telecommunications applications
