How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Mechanical Design Engineer

    Are you an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer looking for a new opportunity? Do you have a strong mechanical design background and enjoy developing practical, manufacturable products?
    We are working with a specialist engineering business in Stevenage who are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team. This is a predominantly design-focused position, working across both mechanical and electrical considerations and taking ownership of product development and improvements.

    Salary: £45,000–£55,000

    Mechanical Design Engineer

    Job Description

    Design panels, enclosures, brackets, fixings and sheet-metal components.
    Produce detailed 3D CAD models and engineering drawings.
    Develop new designs from concept through to manufacture.
    Work closely with electrical engineers to accommodate switches, wiring, controls and electrical components.
    Review existing products and implement design improvements.
    Ensure designs are practical, cost-effective and suitable for manufacture and assembly.
    Support bespoke and customer-specific design requirements.
    Liaise with manufacturing, suppliers and customers on technical and design queries.
    Take ownership of projects and contribute to the continued development of the company's product range.Mechanical Design Engineer 

    5+ years' experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer.
    Strong design-focused background with experience taking products from concept through to manufacture.
    Experience with electrical/mechanical products, enclosures or panels would be advantageous.
    Experience designing lighting control panels would be highly beneficial.
    Strong 3D CAD and engineering drawing skills.
    Excellent attention to detail.
    Strong communicator who can work effectively with electrical and manufacturing teams.
    Comfortable working across both mechanical and electrical considerations.
