How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Be part of something new, ambitious and closely connected to the future of UK defence. Yeovil College is developing its Defence Technical Excellence College (DTEC), creating an exciting opportunity for an experienced Engineering Curriculum Leader to take a leading role in shaping our Defence curriculum agenda. Working at the intersection of engineering, technical education and industry, you’ll help develop programmes that respond directly to employer needs and equip the next generation with the specialist skills needed across the defence sector.

As the first Curriculum Leader for Engineering DTEC, you’ll have a unique opportunity to help build and shape something from the ground up. You’ll lead the DTEC Engineering curriculum, working with defence employers, industry partners, hub-and-spoke colleges and the National Defence College Network to develop innovative, employer-informed programmes and progression pathways. With opportunities to shape specialist provision across aerospace and UAS, autonomous systems, advanced manufacturing and subsea technologies, you’ll bring your engineering expertise and industry insight to identify opportunities, drive curriculum growth and develop the technical talent needed for the future defence sector. Alongside leading a team of specialist staff, you’ll champion quality, innovation and industry relevance across DTEC delivery. This is your opportunity to get in at the start, shape a growing Defence offer and make your mark on the future of technical education.

    What we're looking for:

Engineering or industry expertise – relevant experience across engineering, defence, aerospace, advanced manufacturing, digital, autonomy or a related technical discipline.

Curriculum knowledge – up-to-date understanding of academic, technical and apprenticeship provision, with an appreciation of employer-led curriculum design.

Leadership that makes a difference – the ability to influence, motivate and bring people with you, creating strong relationships across teams, employers and partners.

Learner-focused and ambitious – a genuine commitment to putting learners first and continually improving teaching, learning and the student experience.

Confident with data and complexity – strong analytical skills and the ability to turn data and complex challenges into practical solutions that drive improvement.

Qualified and forward-thinking – a Level 5 teaching qualification (or willingness to achieve), alongside a real interest in developing innovative teaching and learning practice.

    What we offer:

Annual Salary: £39,917 up to £45,539 depending on experience

Additional annual salary supplement between £3,000 to £5,000

Full-time position, 37 hours per week, all year round.

35 days holiday (plus Christmas closure & bank holidays)

Generous pension scheme of 28.68% employer contributions

Staff discount scheme with high street and online retailers

Opportunities for professional development and career growth

    Employee assistance programme

    Free onsite gym

    Subsidised catering facilities

    Cycle to work scheme

    Access to free staff parking
