How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

We are currently recruiting for a PE backed, rapidly growing business seeking a Financial Controller due to growth within the Finance Team.

    Salary: £65,000-£70,000 + car allowance (5k)

Please note this role is office based full time

Reporting to the Finance Director, the Financial Controller will take ownership of the day-to-day finance function.

Operating in a commercially focused environment, the Financial Controller will lead a team of three and be responsible for delivering accurate management reporting, maintaining strong financial controls and providing meaningful insight to support business decisions.

This is a hands-on leadership role requiring someone comfortable managing the detail while also partnering with senior management and operational teams. You will play an important part in improving financial visibility, strengthening processes and supporting the continued development of the business.

    Key Responsibilities

Lead, manage and develop a finance team of three, ensuring clear responsibilities, strong performance and continued development.
Oversee the monthly management accounts process, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
Oversee the month-end close, including accruals, prepayments, journals and balance sheet reconciliations.
Produce monthly P&L, balance sheet and cash flow reporting with clear commentary and variance analysis.
Lead the annual budgeting process and support regular forecasting and reforecasting.
Monitor business performance against budget, forecast and prior periods, identifying trends, risks and opportunities.
Manage cash flow and working capital, including oversight of receivables, payables and inventory.
Maintain strong financial controls, policies and procedures across the business.
Oversee statutory reporting requirements and coordinate the year-end audit, acting as the key contact for external auditors.
Take ownership of financial reporting and analysis across recurring revenue streams, providing clear visibility of performance, growth and future revenue.
Monitor key recurring revenue metrics, including contract renewals, customer retention, revenue growth and forward revenue visibility.
Ensure appropriate revenue recognition across product sales, subscriptions, service contracts and other recurring income streams.
Work closely with commercial teams to understand the recurring revenue pipeline, contract performance and the financial impact of new customer wins, renewals and cancellations.
Ensure appropriate VAT, tax and other regulatory reporting requirements are completed accurately and on time.
Identify opportunities to improve finance processes, reporting and systems, introducing greater efficiency and automation where appropriate.
Develop management information and KPIs that provide greater visibility of business performance.
Support the Finance Director and wider leadership team with ad-hoc commercial projects, business cases and strategic initiatives.
    Experience

We are looking for a commercially minded finance professional who combines strong technical accounting knowledge with a practical, hands-on approach.
    ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification.
Previous experience operating at Financial Controller, Finance Manager or similar level.
Experience managing and developing a small finance team.
Strong management accounting, budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting experience.
Good understanding of cash flow, working capital and balance sheet management.
Strong Excel and financial systems capability.
The ability to analyse financial information and communicate the key messages clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
A proactive approach with the confidence to challenge existing processes and drive improvements.
    The opportunity

This is an opportunity to take ownership of a broad finance function within a specialist business.
The role offers a good balance between financial control and team leadership, with the opportunity to influence how the finance function develops as the business continues to grow.
