How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Document Controller – Major Construction Project

Bath, Somerset | Temporary to Permanent | Tier 1 / Tier 2 Main Contracting

O'Neill & Brennan are recruiting for an experienced Document Controller to join the project delivery team on a large, flagship construction scheme in Bath.

We are looking to appoint an organised, detail-oriented professional with a strong background in Tier 1 or Tier 2 main contracting, who can demonstrate experience supporting the successful delivery of substantial construction projects.

This opportunity will initially be offered on a temporary-to-permanent basis, providing the successful candidate with the opportunity to establish themselves within the project team before transitioning into a long-term, permanent position.

The role would suit an experienced Document Controller who is comfortable working within a busy construction environment, managing high volumes of technical information and ensuring that project documentation is accurately maintained, controlled and distributed.

    The Role

Working closely with the project management, design, commercial and construction teams, you will take responsibility for maintaining effective document control procedures throughout the delivery of this significant development.

    Key responsibilities will include:

Managing the receipt, registration, distribution and archiving of project documentation, drawings and technical information.

Maintaining accurate document registers, revision histories and distribution records.

Ensuring the latest approved drawings and specifications are readily available to relevant members of the project team.

Administering the project's Common Data Environment (CDE), ensuring documentation is correctly uploaded, categorised and maintained.

Coordinating the flow of information between the client, design consultants, subcontractors and internal project teams.

Monitoring outstanding documentation, submissions and approvals, proactively following up where required.

Supporting the management of RFIs, technical submissions, design information and associated project correspondence.

Ensuring documentation complies with company procedures, project protocols and relevant quality management requirements.

Assisting with the collation of handover documentation, O&M manuals and project completion records.

Providing wider administrative and document management support to the project delivery team as required.

    Candidate Requirements

We are particularly interested in speaking with Document Controllers who have developed their experience within established main contracting environments and understand the documentation requirements associated with complex, large-scale construction schemes.

To be considered, applicants should demonstrate:

Proven Document Control experience within a recognised Tier 1 or Tier 2 main contractor.

Previous involvement in construction projects valued at £20 million or above.

Strong knowledge of construction documentation, drawing management, revision control and technical information workflows.

Experience using established document management platforms such as Viewpoint 4Projects, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Asite, Aconex or similar systems.

Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and high volumes of project information.

Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook.

A methodical approach to maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with document control procedures.

Excellent communication skills and confidence liaising with project managers, design teams, consultants and subcontractors.

The ability to work independently, take ownership of responsibilities and proactively identify outstanding information requirements.

A consistent employment history supported by strong, verifiable professional references.

    Essential Requirements:

Previous Document Control experience within a main contracting environment.

Demonstrable experience using a recognised construction document management system.

Strong understanding of construction drawings, document numbering conventions and revision control.

Excellent attention to detail and a professional, dependable approach.

    Previous Project Experience & References

Given the scale and profile of this development, previous project experience and professional references will form an important part of our shortlisting process.

Candidates should be able to demonstrate meaningful involvement in the administration and document control of projects exceeding £20 million in value.

We will be looking for strong professional references that substantiate an individual's organisational ability, attention to detail, dedication and reliability.

We are particularly interested in individuals who take genuine ownership of their responsibilities and understand the importance of accurate, timely information management in supporting successful project delivery.

    What's on Offer?

Opportunity to join the delivery team on a significant flagship construction scheme in Bath.

Temporary-to-permanent engagement, with genuine long-term career prospects.

The opportunity to work alongside an established and experienced construction management team.

Involvement in a substantial, technically demanding construction project.

    Competitive remuneration, dependent on experience.

    Interested?

If you are an experienced Document Controller with a strong main contracting background and a proven history of supporting substantial construction projects, we would welcome a confidential conversation.

Please apply with your latest CV, ideally detailing the values and scope of your previous projects, alongside the document management platforms you have experience using.

Alternatively, contact Reece Kershaw at O'Neill & Brennan to discuss the opportunity in further detail.

All enquiries will be treated in the strictest confidence.
