How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Site Managers & Assistant Site Managers – Major Construction Project

Bath, Somerset | Temporary to Permanent | Tier 1 / Tier 2 Main Contracting

O'Neill & Brennan are recruiting for experienced Site Managers and Assistant Site Managers to join the delivery team on a large, flagship construction scheme in Bath.

We are looking to appoint proven construction professionals with strong Tier 1 or Tier 2 main contracting backgrounds who can demonstrate successful involvement in the delivery of substantial, technically demanding construction projects.

Both opportunities will initially be offered on a temporary-to-permanent basis, providing candidates with the opportunity to establish themselves within the project team before transitioning into long-term, permanent employment.

These positions would suit individuals who take genuine pride in their work, demonstrate excellent site management standards and are looking to become part of an established construction team delivering a significant regional project.

    The Opportunities

    Site Managers

We are seeking experienced Site Managers capable of taking ownership of designated areas, packages or phases of construction, coordinating subcontractors and ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.

You will be expected to demonstrate strong programme awareness, effective subcontractor management and the ability to proactively manage the day-to-day challenges associated with a major construction project.

    Assistant Site Managers

We are equally interested in speaking with capable, hands-on Assistant Site Managers who have developed their experience within established main contracting environments.

You will work closely with the senior construction team, supporting the coordination of site activities, subcontractor management, quality inspections, health & safety compliance and the successful delivery of allocated works.

We are particularly interested in individuals who are proactive, dependable and comfortable taking responsibility rather than simply waiting for instruction.

    Candidate Requirements

To be considered for either position, applicants must demonstrate:

A strong employment history within recognised Tier 1 or Tier 2 main contracting organisations.

Previous involvement in the delivery of large-scale construction projects valued at £20 million or above.

A sound understanding of construction sequencing, site logistics, programme management and quality control.

Experience coordinating subcontractors and maintaining high standards of site delivery.

Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving abilities.

A professional, hands-on approach with a strong commitment to delivering quality.

The ability to work effectively as part of a wider construction management team.

A consistent employment history supported by strong, verifiable professional references.

    Essential Certifications:

Valid CSCS Card (appropriate management level).

    SMSTS.

    First Aid at Work.

    References & Previous Experience

Given the scale and profile of this development, previous project experience and professional references will form an important part of our shortlisting process.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate meaningful involvement in projects exceeding £20 million in value, with references available to substantiate their technical ability, dedication, reliability and contribution to successful project delivery.

We are not simply looking for candidates who have worked on large projects; we want individuals who can clearly demonstrate the value they brought to the teams responsible for delivering them.

    What's on Offer?

Opportunity to work on a significant flagship construction scheme in Bath.

Temporary-to-permanent opportunities for both Site Managers and Assistant Site Managers.

Long-term career prospects with an established main contractor.

The opportunity to work alongside an experienced construction management team.

Competitive remuneration, dependent on experience and the position undertaken.

    Interested?

If you are an experienced Site Manager or Assistant Site Manager with a strong main contracting background and a proven history of working on substantial construction projects, we would welcome a confidential conversation.

Please apply with your latest CV, ideally detailing the values and scope of the projects you have worked on, or contact Reece Kershaw at O'Neill & Brennan to discuss either opportunity in further detail.

All enquiries will be treated in the strictest confidence.

O’Neill and Brennan values diversity and promotes equality, All individuals will be treated in a fair and equal manner and in accordance with the law regardless of gender, marital status, race, religion, colour, age, disability or sexual orientation
