How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    Position Title: Activity Coordinator

    Reports To: Service Manager or Team Leader

    Roles Reporting to this Position: None

    Primary Objective: To design, coordinate and deliver a varied programme of engaging, accessible and employment-focused activities for young people aged 18 to 24. The role will build aspiration, confidence, resilience, transferable skills and understanding of workplace expectations, while working closely with Mentors and partners to help each participant progress towards suitable and sustainable employment, education or training.

    Key Responsibilities

    Activity Design and Delivery

    Design, coordinate and maintain a rolling programme of structured group and individual activities aligned with participants’ needs, aspirations, action plans and outcomes.

    Deliver welcoming, energetic and inclusive sessions for young people aged 18 to 24, using age-appropriate interests such as sport, creative arts, technology, gaming, virtual reality, outdoor activities and community projects.

    Prepare clear session plans, learning objectives, resources and contingency arrangements so every activity supports employability, personal development or progression.

    Adapt pace, content and delivery for different communication styles, neurodiversity, disabilities, literacy levels, digital capability, confidence levels and reasonable-adjustment needs.

    Participant Engagement and Development

    Use trauma-informed, strengths-based and culturally responsive practice to build trust, promote participant choice and voice, and support those who lack confidence or have had negative experiences of services or education.

    Help participants develop communication, teamwork, problem-solving, resilience, timekeeping, professional behaviours, digital skills and an understanding of workplace expectations.

    Support young people to identify and present their transferable skills and achievements in CVs, applications, interviews and employer conversations.

    Provide practical sector insight through employer talks, workplace visits, careers activities, mock recruitment exercises, volunteering and project-based learning.

    Coordination and Partnership Working

    Coordinate specialist partner delivery, including procurement or booking processes, schedules, venues, participant communications, accessibility, risk information, attendance, feedback and supporting evidence.

    Work closely with Mentors to identify suitable activities, share relevant progress or concerns, and ensure learning is reflected in participant action plans and next steps.

    Promote activities through engaging face-to-face and digital communications, use reminders and motivational contact, and promptly follow up non-attendance with the Mentor.

    Build relationships with youth, community, education, health, specialist and employer partners to widen participation, strengthen referral routes and reduce barriers.

    Contribute to programme events, outreach, sector pathways and employment-focused campaigns across sites and community venues.

    Safeguarding, Inclusion and Professional Practice

    Place participant welfare at the centre of delivery and follow safeguarding, lone-working, incident, whistleblowing and escalation procedures at all times.

    Recognise and respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns, disclosures, exploitation risks or changes in presentation. Apply adult safeguarding procedures for participants aged 18 to 24 and follow child safeguarding processes where a concern also involves a child.

    Maintain professional boundaries, confidentiality and appropriate use of digital communication and social media.

    Obtain and record informed consent where required, share information only where there is an appropriate and lawful basis and comply with data protection requirements.

    Quality, Compliance and Performance

    Complete activity and venue risk assessments, dynamic risk checks, incident reports and emergency arrangements in line with organisational policy and health and safety requirements.

    Maintain accurate, timely and audit-ready records of referrals, attendance, participation, adjustments, feedback, progress, outcomes, risk documentation and safeguarding actions.

    Deliver the agreed activity schedule consistently, ensuring sessions start on time and resources, venues and partners are coordinated effectively.

    Monitor attendance, engagement and completion, take timely action to address non-engagement, and evidence improvements in confidence, employability skills, workplace understanding and readiness for next steps.

    Use participant and stakeholder feedback, attendance data and progression information to evaluate impact and continuously improve the activity offer.

    Support progression to agreed next steps, including mentoring actions, training, employer engagement, interviews, work experience or employment.

    Manage activity resources and agreed budgets responsibly, demonstrate value for money, and ensure equipment is safe, available and stored appropriately.

    Professional Knowledge and Flexibility

    Maintain current knowledge of youth employment challenges, local labour markets, digital trends and support available to 18 to 24-year-olds.

    Work flexibly across locations and, where required, outside standard hours to meet participant and programme needs.

    To deliver role responsibilities in line with organisational values and all relevant policies and procedures

    Any other duties appropriate to the level of this role, for which the post-holder has the necessary training or experience.

    Essential and Desirable Skills, Knowledge and Experience

    Delivery and Engagement

    Experience of planning, coordinating and delivering engaging group activities for young people or young adults, preferably including those aged 18 to 24 and those not in education, employment or training or facing multiple barriers.

    Strong facilitation, presentation and engagement skills, with the ability to build rapport while maintaining clear boundaries and expectations.

    Ability to turn creative or recreational activities into purposeful employability and personal-development learning and adapt delivery for different needs, abilities, cultures, communication styles and confidence levels.

    Experience in employability, youth work, community development, education, careers, coaching or publicly funded services, including delivery of creative, digital, sports, gaming, virtual reality, outdoor, volunteering or project-based activities.

    Participant Support and Safe Practice

    Understanding of barriers affecting young people, including low confidence, poor mental wellbeing, disability, neurodiversity, caring responsibilities, housing instability, transport difficulties, digital exclusion and limited work experience.

    Knowledge of adult and child safeguarding responsibilities, professional boundaries, equality, 

    Qualifications, Values and Flexibility

    A relevant qualification in youth work, teaching, training, coaching, careers, employability, safeguarding, mental health first aid or facilitation.

    A current first-aid qualification and experience of completing activity or venue risk assessments.

    Commitment to participant voice, strengths-based practice, inclusion and high-quality customer service.

    Ability and willingness to travel on a daily basis to different locations within assigned local area, to support participants, employers, events, placements and contract delivery (no homeworking is available due to the nature of the role)

    Willingness to complete all required induction and refresher training, including safeguarding, equality, data protection and health and safety.

    Appointment is subject to checks appropriate to the role and participant group, which may include a DBS check where legally eligible and required
