How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

2nd Line IT Support Engineer - Stamford

Are you an experienced IT Support Engineer looking for a varied, hands-on role where you can support users, manage devices, troubleshoot technical issues and get involved in wider infrastructure and Microsoft 365 work?

We are recruiting for a proactive 2nd Line IT Support Engineer to join a professional services organisation based in Newark, Nottinghamshire.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong 1st and 2nd line support experience who enjoys solving problems, supporting colleagues and taking ownership of IT issues from start to finish.

The role would suit someone with experience across Microsoft 365, Windows 11, Active Directory, Exchange Online, Intune, Azure, networking, device builds and remote support.

You will support users across multiple offices, so a full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle are essential.

    The Role

As IT Support Engineer, you will provide day-to-day technical support across the business, covering hardware, software, user accounts, connectivity, devices and key business applications.

You will be involved in a mix of helpdesk support, remote troubleshooting, on-site support, device deployment, Microsoft 365 administration, infrastructure support and project work.

    Key Responsibilities

    *

Provide 1st and 2nd line IT support to users across multiple offices, logging, triaging, resolving and escalating support tickets where required.

    *

Troubleshoot hardware, software, connectivity and account issues both remotely and on site.

    *

Build, configure, deploy and manage laptops, desktops, mobile devices and peripherals.

    *

Support Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive and Group Policy.

    *

Assist with Intune endpoint management, device provisioning and configuration.

    *

Support Windows Server, Hyper-V and wider infrastructure tasks.

    *

Troubleshoot networking issues involving TCP/IP, switches, VLANs, firewalls and wireless connectivity.

    *

Support business applications, software installations, patching, endpoint security, backups and software updates.

    *

Assist with IT projects including hardware refreshes, system upgrades, migrations and office moves.

    *

Maintain clear IT documentation, user guides and knowledge base content.

    Skills and Experience

We are looking for someone with previous experience as an IT Support Engineer, 2nd Line Support Engineer, IT Technician or Service Desk Engineer.

You should be confident supporting Windows 11 and Microsoft desktop environments, with good knowledge of Microsoft 365 administration, Active Directory, Group Policy, Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint and OneDrive.

Experience or exposure to Microsoft Intune, Azure or endpoint management would be highly beneficial.

You should also have a good understanding of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, switches, VLANs, firewalls and Wi-Fi, alongside strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, software, connectivity and user accounts.

Experience using helpdesk or ticketing systems and remote support tools is also required.

A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle with business insurance are essential.

    Desirable Experience

Experience within legal, professional services, financial services or another multi-site environment would be advantageous.

Knowledge of legal applications such as SOS Connect, SOS Practice Manager or Diktamen would also be useful, although it is not essential.

Microsoft, CompTIA A+, Azure, Microsoft 365 or Endpoint Administrator certifications would be welcomed, along with experience of endpoint security, backup tools, asset management or device lifecycle management.

    About You

You will be organised, approachable and confident dealing with users at all levels.

You will enjoy problem-solving, taking ownership of technical issues and balancing day-to-day support tickets with wider project and infrastructure work.

This is not a basic first-line support role. It would suit someone who is comfortable supporting users but also wants broader exposure to Microsoft 365, Intune, infrastructure, networking and multi-site IT operations.

    What's on Offer?

    *

    Salary of £35,000 - £38,000 DOE.

    *

Varied 2nd line IT support role with genuine responsibility.

    *

Exposure to Microsoft 365, Intune, Azure, networking and infrastructure.

    *

Professional services environment offering long-term stability.

    *

Opportunity to support multiple sites and broaden your technical experience.

    *

    Monday to Friday working hours
