How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    An opportunity has arisen for an Electrician to join a well-established housing organisation, providing property maintenance, repairs and improvement services across residential homes and community facilities.
    As an Electrician, you will be carrying out electrical installations, maintenance, testing and repairs while ensuring regulatory compliance and high standards of customer service. This is a mobile role covering the wider operational area, offering salary of £39,420 and benefits.
    You can be based anywhere across South-East Wales, with occasional visits to the Newport (Malpas) or Pontypool (Head Office) depots as required. The role covers Blaenau Gwent, Monmouthshire, Newport, Powys and Torfaen.
    You will be responsible for:
    * Completing electrical installations, rewiring, repairs and new circuit works across domestic and commercial properties.
    * Working from drawings and specifications and sourcing the materials required for each job.
    * Carrying out electrical inspection, testing and certification, including installation and condition reports.
    * Testing and maintaining fire alarms, smoke alarms and emergency lighting systems.
    * Installing, maintaining and fault-finding heating controls and door entry systems.
    * Completing planned and cyclical testing in line with current regulations and maintaining accurate records.
    * Diagnosing faults and completing repairs safely, efficiently and within required timescales.
    * Driving an allocated works vehicle and completing daily vehicle safety checks.
    * Recording labour, materials and equipment used accurately.
    The candidates from the following background will be considered:
    * Electrician, Maintenance Electrician, Electrical Engineer, Maintenance Engineer, Approved Electrician, Domestic Electrician, Electrical Tester, EICR Engineer, Installation Engineer, Social Housing Electrician
    What we are looking for:
    * Previously worked a s an Electrician or in a similar role.
    * Experience of inspecting and testing electrical installations, including condition and installation certification.
    * NVQ Level 3.
    * AM2 certification in Electrotechnical Occupational Competence or equivalent.
    * 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations.
    * City & Guilds 2391 or 2394/2395, or an equivalent Inspection and Testing qualification.
    * Completed apprenticeship in Installing Electrotechnical Systems and Equipment or equivalent.
    * Full UK driving licence.
