How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    We are recruiting for an experienced Operations Manager to join an established engineering and manufacturing business in the Ashton Under Lyne area working on a permanent basis.

    Salary is c£80-90,000 per annum (Depending on experience) plus 25 days' holiday and bank holidays, company bonus, healthcare, pension etc.

    About the Operations Manager role:

    This is a senior operational role suited to someone who has developed their career within a machining, CNC, fabrication or precision engineering environment and has progressed into a management position.

    The successful candidate will be a confident and credible manufacturing leader who is comfortable being hands-on when required, challenging existing ways of working and holding teams accountable for performance, quality and delivery.

    The Role

    As Operations Manager / Factory Manager, you will take responsibility for the effective day-to-day operation of the manufacturing facility, leading teams and driving improvements across production and operational performance.

    Key responsibilities will include:

    *

    Managing and leading manufacturing and production teams across the facility.

    *

    Taking overall responsibility for day-to-day factory operations.

    *

    Driving performance, productivity, quality and on-time delivery.

    *

    Challenging underperformance and ensuring clear accountability across the team.

    *

    Identifying opportunities to improve manufacturing processes and operational efficiency.

    *

    Working closely with production, engineering, planning and other functions to ensure customer requirements are achieved.

    *

    Developing and maintaining a strong culture of safety, quality and continuous improvement.

    *

    Monitoring operational performance and implementing corrective actions where required.

    *

    Supporting the development of people, processes and manufacturing capability.

    *

    Ensuring the factory operates efficiently and effectively against business objectives.

    About the Operations Manager:

    We are looking for an experienced manufacturing professional who has worked their way up through an engineering or manufacturing environment and has a strong understanding of how a factory operates.

    You are likely to have a background in one or more of the following:

    *

    CNC machining

    *

    Precision engineering

    *

    Machine shop operations

    *

    Fabrication

    *

    Engineering manufacturing

    *

    Production engineering

    You will ideally have progressed from a technical or shop-floor background into increasingly senior management positions and will understand manufacturing from the ground up.

    Strong leadership, communication and commercial awareness are essential, along with the ability to improve operational performance in a demanding manufacturing environment.
